Why has Australian politics sunk so low that boorish dolts like ScoMo, Abbott and their ilk can become PM?

So this is specific to climate change?

climate change and covid are the two biggest issues at the moment but not the only ones

Didn't Labor promise to NEVER RETURN to a carbon tax?
A. What they introduced wasn't a carbon tax
B. that promise was made on the basis that labor won govt. outright ... labor didn't win outright, it needed a coalition with the greens to form government and as such everything is back on the table

Australia's economy was number ONE in the world at one point?
during the GFC we had the best performing economy

Yes, but how does COVID science break down across politically partisan lines?

A. What they introduced wasn't a carbon tax
What was it then?

B. that promise was made on the basis that labor won govt. outright ... labor didn't win outright, it needed a coalition with the greens to form government and as such everything is back on the table
Which election was this?

during the GFC we had the best performing economy
To what degree do you think that was attributable to government policy?

because the politicians are more concerned with keeping their donors happy than the science.

Which election was this?
the election Gillard won before she introduced the carbon tax

To what degree do you think that was attributable to government policy?
Thats rather subjective. But irrespective of how subjective, labor were in govt. and labor claims the accolades. After all, the libs do it all the time.

I really don't know what you're talking about. How does Labor, The Coalition and The Greens differ on COVID science?

Yeah I know, and I don't like it when THEY do it either!

A. What they introduced wasn't a carbon tax
B. that promise was made on the basis that labor won govt. outright ... labor didn't win outright, it needed a coalition with the greens to form government and as such everything is back on the table
As in, it was a 'carbon tax' IN NAME ONLY?

the coalition are in denial. The science says we need to act now, set firm targets and transition away from traditional energy sources ... the coalition instead wants to drag it out for as long as they can. Sure they say they believe the science, but then refuse to act on it. Many coalition members have also denied the science

It wasn't a carbon tax in any form.

I asked, "how does Labor, The Coalition and The Greens differ on COVID science?"

It wasn't a carbon tax in any form.
Well it was CALLED a carbon tax. So it was a carbon tax, just in name only.

Well we can most certainly agree on that!
But were you not saying that the country is divided on COVID among other things?
the politics not the science. the science is pretty consistant ... unless you're a conspiracy nutter in which case no amount of evidence will ever do
