Yes, brewing beer was mainly a female occupation until industrial breweries appeared with the Industrial Revolution. In the Babylonian times beer was served by waitresses who also served as whores. There were no hops back in those days, twists of the herb skirret were supplied with the beer, they provided the bitterness.
