You've all at some stage come across a passage in novel, some lines in a movie , an interesting caption in an internet meme, a passage in a poem, some words in a song etc that struck some chord, had some meaning for you, gave you some joy, made you think etc .

Here is the place to share ...:thumb

" Every man who is not helping to bring about a better state of affairs for the future is helping to perpetuate the present misery, and is therefore the enemy of his own children. There is no such thing as being neutral: we must either help or hinder."

-Robert Tressell -(The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists)

“Things are the way they are because someone wants them that way.” - Unknown

“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.
This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population. It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some fifty miles of concrete pavement. We pay for a single fighter with a half-million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people. . . . This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron.”

Dwight Eisenhower

"And so our mothers and grandmothers have, more often than not anonymously, handed on the creative spark, the seed of the flower they themselves never hoped to see - or like a sealed letter they could not plainly read."

Seth, your country was indeed, once upon a time, truly great. Then capitalism killed it.

"In the US, there is basically one party - the business party. It has two factions, called Democrats and Republicans, which are somewhat different but carry out variations on the same policies. By and large, I am opposed to those policies. As is most of the population."

Interesting one… when we think about it… the big families these women had… and hand scrubbed all washing by hand and cooked every day in a big pot over a fireplace. And sewed clothes (the few each had) to wear.
How different times are now… with all mod cons and people say they have no time.
And thinking of modern times to compare… a quote…

••• One of the most feared expressions in modern times is 'The computer is down.’•••

Speak English!” said the Eaglet. “I don’t know the meaning of half those long words, and, what’s more, I don’t believe you do either!”.

Seriously, one quote that's struck with me is:

Don't do anything you might regret
Don't regret anything you might have done

I don't recall who made that one, it was so many years ago, but it's always stuck with me and I think it's good advice.
