Looking forward to the trip to the MId North here. Will try and make sure I visit at least one Flinders Ranges wineries (3 wineries there, there are vineyards owned by wineries further south—a way of coping with AGW. A little bit of business. It is about 3.5 hours drive so bit hard to go there and back in one day, esp with a 100yo in the car. So drive there tomorrow, back on Thursday. If there is another COVID lockdown here Mum has had plenty of country side to look at, should not have claustrophobia rising too soon. Lovely Chinese neighbors will put the bins out for us on Thursday and park a car in our drive tomorrow night.

Record breaking heat here today and tomorrow. It’s 106 F right now in the early afternoon, and it’s expected to get up to 112. For tomorrow, 110 is forecast.

Damn Seth. I'm sorry for you. Heat like that is a killer.

I had to do a conversion to understand your strange language but that's ranging between 41 and 45 degrees Celsius. Very hot indeed. Is it a dry heat at least? Merciless if it's humid also. People start picking up axes in weather like that.

Now, in Australia, ... sorry, couldn't help myself.

Which coast are you on right now? We've only reached 100 once this year in North Texas. It has been unseasonably cool and rainy here. I think we have your weather.

Haha ...

Yes, it’s dry like in an oven.

Did you have a nice time with your son? Does he have kiddies? Did you get to be Grandpa for a while?

And advice from a jaded Australian; stay hydrated.
I had a great time with my son. His wife and 4 kids are all here in Oregon. My son was unable to come here with them this time. I saw all my grandkids yesterday. #3 had her 6th birthday. They are all growing so fast it seems.

While in Virginia we fished every morning and just kicked back in the afternoon and watched sports in the evening. Quality dad-son time.

This is me holding one of many largemouth bass we caught.

Whilst i'm not really your target audience for blood sport porn, Seth, i am well pleased you had that quality time with your son.

I sincerely hope that your son has modelled himself on you. I think you are a true gentleman.

I'm hoping to find 5 acres of land near Lake Tawakoni. Seeing that picture gets me excited.

I found a block of land, got the vendor to accept my price.

Bit higher than I wanted to move to—bloody cold in winter. But bigger than the George Town block and rather less than the $95,000 I sold that block for. Forget growing vines, I think, and will need to be careful with low chill trees, not that I bought many of those.

Can add a few more trees, the vinous King David, the classic Dabinett bittersweet, the “desert wine” Brown Snouts and maybe some more of the classic calvados apples. Definitely need a greenhouse to extend vege growing season.

maybe just use the trees you have for now, and then decide on how to best fill the other space once you're there. I've found living somewhere gives it a totally different perspective.

Yup. Be looking to go there after School holidays in December, can spend 4 weeks there then, likely camping in a tent. Could easily spend a day pondering how to organise orchard, vege and herb patch, house, greenhouse etc. Too late in the year to buy trees anyway.

I had a big pergola built on the GT block, thought high would look elegant—didn’t.

So lower it to 2.50 or 2.70m, make it 3 or 3.5m wide, look nicer.

The forecast is for 113-115 F today, high 80s and 90s for the rest of the week. I was thinking that if there is a silver lining it's that we're not having big forest fires (yet) like last year.
