Have you seen those so-called 'public Housing Towers , in Melbourne.? I don't just mean on the teev.. I mean,, in real time..?

As a teen I lived in inner Melb, and they always made me shudder, when I saw them.. because I couldn't believe people were actually living in them.. !! I'd recently come from rural NZ, BUT even I could see how wrong they were... never had a political thought in my head at the time, but was frankly horrified.

NOW this LOCKDOWN of the TOWERS...!! I don't see any good thing coming from this. Where does this come from..?? that some people are deemed untouchable. because of where they live.?
Vey UNAUSTRALIAN.. this is horrifying...... the consequences??

Guess we'll find out.

No. Patterns of living will need to change. Had brunch today in Harvest the Fleurieu. Another place a little bit off the Victor Harbor Rd serves better food at only slightly higher prices but HtF has fewer tables, I feel safer there. I don’t feel safe in Westfield Marion but do sometimes have to go. Willunga Farmers Market has a nice attitude to Corona Virus—spread out over two locations but that is only Saturday morning. Central Market I don’t feel safe—very crowded.

We need midweek open air Farmers Markets.

The people in the towers refused to be tested. Own fault.
Did they? How do you know that.?
You mean everyone in the towers are complicit..?

I heard many were too afraid to be tested because they thought they'd be deported.. to some worse hellhole.

It’s for 5 days lockdown and hundreds of police will patrol the entrances etc
Some were trying to leave and go to a motel. Others coming back and not knowing what was going on.
This lockdown on these commission towers took effect immediately!!
Didn’t give them much chance to do food shopping etc.
But it was said there would be support if needed.
Not sure how this support happens.
What gets me, it took 48 hours to warn of a lockdown happening of certain postcodes.
Another 2 postcodes have just been included in the lockdown.
I just hope this all helps to flatten the curve somewhat.
Extreme exacting measures to exacting locations is needed, so be it.

I know, I was just trying to attach a value to the elder in the community.

I wasn't having go at you, Monk. I quite agree. Older people have tremendous worth, looking aafter little ones is a great example.

I was having a go at people who demand they prove themselves at all. That they require any value above that they are loved.

So positive results are growing in Victoria, quite alarmingly, compared to our expectations that all will be rosy.. like ,, next week... ??
Dream on.
I'd like you all to remember we are just 6 months in to this situation... numbrs are increasing around the world....
Over half a million dead... in that time.

What will it be in another year..??

What are the consequences of so many more deaths than normal...?

Losses will only rise...

I wonder what I'll be doing in a year. I actually think I know exactly... but what about you..?

Do you wonder..?

So I am astonished that no-one else has commented on this HUGE LOCKDOWN of thousands of people...

Where is your outrage.? This is atrocious treatment of people.. and no-one says BOO.!! ??
WTF?

I mean ?? WTF???

I can't believe it. Just glad it isn't YOU HUH.?

That IS a LIBERAL State Government , isn't it.?

I do not know enough—I know from ABC News that people refused to be tested. People and charities are delivering food supplies for the people in the towers.

I can’t see how people can live in home units let alone towers!

Not to mention we love them dearly. Buggered if i know why that isn't enough. I'm astonished at how cavalier some people are towards our older people. It breaks my heart.

The morons on Ozpol are forever going on abouit cultural superiority. Well we're sure as hell not when it comes to dealing with our elders. Family in general, really.
Materialism became the focus after world war 2. Empathy went down and so did large families.

I wonder where our friend shell has gone. You'd think he'd have something to say.?

It is ( Covid-19) a huge threat to our entire civilisation, if it continues to run rampant through high population areas.
Seems to me it is mutating as it goes, with younger people more and more becoming infected.
See ,? the problem ?
They may be fine ..? possible. but those they infect.. ? it is uncontrollable.

This is NOT GOING AWAY anytime soon.
I thought mutations became less lethal and that's how the virus survives- by not killing all its hosts!

It's not ideal, but I wouldn't call it outrageous.

It's being done for everyone's own good.

Moreover, Victoria has a Labor State Government.

What is so atrocious?

BTW, the Vic. govt. is labor
Yeah.. well .. I think it is totally wrong to isolate and restrict peoples lives because they are living at a certain location. Better they empty the towers and act to contain the virus where it matters/ I don't condone this lockdown.. and NOW.. that the whole STATE is SHUT... the people in the towers should all be allowed their normal rights . They should be allowed OUT FFS. What sort of Country do we live in.?

I DO NOT GET THIS. I suppose it has something to do with public perceptions, and attempts to change them.

I don't agree with the lockdown of the 9 Towers... it is very hard policy.

But, when the shit goes down your Labor is READY.

A number of the locked-down towers in Melbourne are in Bill Shorten’s seat of Maribyrnong. I posted photos of him delivering food there the other day – as the situation’s unfolded, he’s stayed down there with his community, demanding more “eyes and ears” on the situation and response to the residents *justifiable* fears and concerns.
For people who heard the inane, untrue Pauline Hanson fantasy version of events in the towers yesterday, the hard truth from Bill on morning TV today about how these people are truly “taking one for the team” in the coronavirus crisis and deserve immediate attention, community respect and dignity… Well, it’s absolutely essential viewing.

Better they empty the towers and act to contain the virus where it matters/
and put them where? there are thousands of people livin in those towers. they'd be more comfy at home than in a hotel. as long as supplies are kept up

I don't condone this lockdown.
no one likes them but they have to stop the virus spreading or the last 3 months of lockdowns was for nothing
