Heh, watching an old English comedy classic starring Alec Guinness in The Card 1952.

The bit I am watching now is set in Burslem, the shots of the football (soccer) oval has some fat at the base, thinner at the top chimneys. These are bottle kilns, Burslem being still a centre for the production of fine pottery in what is now known/organised as the Stoke-on-Trent pottery making centre of the UK. Mind you, only knew about bottle kilns watching some narrowboat channels. These boats “sail” along the canals of England, Scotland and Wales and these canals were dug as the first infrastructure for the Industrial Revolution.

Want to watch the sharpie, The Card is at:

Hah!

Another classic Brit comedy—see a sad iron and the tailors’ squat in the first few minutes.

“Never mind the quality, feel the width” a later sitcom itself.

Classic seeing some sitcom characters—Murphy from Fawlty Towers, Greengrass from Heartbeat etc. Fun! (I probably missed a ton, TV not something interesting me greatly.)
