Little quiz: why are summer temperatures more constant?

Container ships going to use the Arctic route more and more. OK, stronger than the usual container ship but not as strong as an icebreaker.

That is a consequence of AGW thinning the Arctic ice.

Having more ships ploughing the hithertoo pristine Arctic is going to cause more pollution there.

seems like the arctic melting presents bigger problems which I wasn't aware of until i saw the following video.

Methane which was stored in the ice and is being released into the atmosphere as the permafrost is melting, warming the planet 86 times faster than CO2

:WTF

Yup.

There was a town in Russia, the most northerly town on the planet, that has or is being evacuated. Melting permafrost is tilting and cracking buildings there and polar bears are increasing in numbers so the town is becoming unlivable. Polar bears are adapting to what is happening in the Arctic Ocean by moving inland.

In Canada and Alaska the same thing is happening. Some guy is selling a system to oil companies that refrigerated the permafrost under production sites to keep it stable. None of the scammers so beloved by that idiot Booby ever mention melting permafrost. Dubyne often says “Arctic ice is thickening” when the opposite is happening.

Woops, not Russian, Norwegian, the island of Svalbard off Greenland north of Iceland:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2017/12/08/northern-most-town-arctic-circle-risk-disappearing/919401001/

Note that it is the melting permafrost doing this. I am sure tho that the article I was thinking of mentioned a town in Russia.

Another article I read spoke of landslides caused by the permafrost melting was damming some rivers in Alaska and when the dam breaks that could cause problems to people living downstream of it.

Arctic anomalously warm, freezing delayed:

Things are not as simple as scammers pretend and their dupes believe.

“Winds have a great effect on temperature.” Not globally they don’t.

CO2 may have a logarithmic effect but CO2e is increasing exponentially, hence the chart Booby couldn’t understand showing a linear relationship between ln(pCO2) and temperature anomaly. That graph shows that the crap about “only the first 100ppm do anything” which is also disproven by paleoclimate findings.

Further, the warming by CO2 means more water vapor is in the atmosphere overall (can still have pockets dry air due other effects) and the water vapor warms the planet further.

So Lees is, as usual, talking shit.

I don't know about the warming but the last 3 or 4 years in Bulgaria are fucken weird and crazy. I've never seen such anomalies before here.

2016 was the coldest winter in Varna for the last 80 or so years. A true record breaker. My water pipes froze. And we basically had no summer which was weird as hell. And summers are usually 30+ Celsius.

And Septembers around here are usually warm. Pretty warm. Like, beach warm. Go to the beach and have a warm bath warm. This Septemba was a cold winter night all day. Not nice. Not nearly nice.

I would say caused by the Jet Stream causing a stuck weather pattern. Disappearance of Arctic ice is also going to create extreme weather esp more snow in mid latitudes.

Slowing of AMOC sees UK swinging between brutally cold winters snapping into very hot summers—and drought on the “emerald isle.”

That Neven guy has turned into a full on fascist: he won't let my on the forum but he will let me on the blog... which I suppose is a fair compromise, however.

We did a few emails and came to an arrangement. so he's obviously not a bad bloke but if you ask a question apparently that's against the rules.

Funny guy: dutch perhaps, lol?

October has seen a continuation of the trend that set in right after the September minimum (see last month's update), where 2018 went from 6th lowest at the minimum to 5th lowest at the end of the September, and now it's 4th at the end of October, practically on a par with 2011. The increase of 2115 km3, well below the 2367 km3 average, was actually 3rd lowest in the 2007-2018 record, with only 2007 and 2016 having an even lower increase (1637 and 1648 km3 respectively). That means that 2018 has crept closer to the years below it, and moved away further from the years above it, overtaking 2017 for the first time this year.

Here's how the differences with previous years have evolved from last month:

And Booby and various other nitwits think we are in an ice age. As I said on Twitter “We are entering a no–ice ice age!”
