Yes, many do.

Idiots.

However, when we elect our local representatives, we elect them directly.

Unless by preference of course.... :hot :b :b :b :b :b :b :b :b

you still vote for your preferences.

Correct.

There is absolutely nothing unconstitutional about preferences.

Australian members of parliament - every single one of them - are directly elected.

There is no electoral college, or similar system, involved.

How can you elect alternatives when the mainstream media doesn't even examine their point of view?

They only get in by fluke... so nobody bothers running as alternatives unless they are extreme enough to make enough noise to maybe fluke a high enough vote to peg off a seat or two.

It's all indirectly making you vote for big business or big business: that be mass immigration!

....a 2 party system is next to a one party system!

you still vote for your preferences.

How can you vote for alternatives when you don't know what they stand for because they are excluded from the mainstream media: and that is because the mainstream media only wants you to choose between 2 partys who share the same mass immigration policies that make the rich richer by lowering everyones wages.

So no one bothers being an alternative party except for extremists..

...and they get in by fluke only to have them jailed or set up the following election as a continuation to the circus.

It's all indirect! The media is indirect... the pollies are indirect... the system is indirect!! That is what power is!!!

For HoR vote compass is a good start:

https://votecompass.abc.net.au/

And below the line for the senate:

https://belowtheline.org.au/

both will be up when the election is finally announced

The smaller parties will get lots of votes.

Libs and Labor are very similar and do not do what I want for this country.

Similar problems in the U.S. I can't stand the progressive leftist Democrats, and I also dislike the ho-hum, status quo-loving, do-nothing Republicans. And I am not alone. Think "2016 election".

Some good news re the NBN, when Labor is elected next month:

Under new Labor proposal.
NBN Co will foot the bill to upgrade in-home wiring at up to 750,000 premises in the fibre-to-the-node footprint under a plan floated by the federal opposition today.

The major upgrade project is the centrepiece of Labor’s plan to reinvigorate the troubled NBN for both households and businesses across Australia. . . .

The opposition also said today that, should it win next month’s election, it would investigate more fibre upgrade paths for parts of the network.

It said this would “validate costs and assess co-investment mechanisms to responsibly deliver targeted upgrades over the medium term”.

Labor will similarly review the economic basis of the NBN, which it said was “$21.4 billion over budget and four years behind schedule”.

Looks like Labor are doing as I suggested, rolling out more fibre on a sensible co=payment system because the more fibre that is rolled out more people will want fibre too. i guess the free fix for in-house wiring issues won’t lose Labor any votes.
