Qld election 2017—the count

Postby HBS Guy » 25 Nov 2017, 12:17

I am relying on Qlders here to report on the count.

I will likely see something about 10pm on the telly.

I have moved the previous thread on the Qld election to Archives. It is visible to all Members there but new posts have to be made here. I can refloat the thread if anyone requests it.

Polls point to a close result with Labor winning narrowly: 51:49 easing to 52:48 and today a Newspoll predicting a narrow Labor win.

Labor should encourage North Qld to form a separate State I reckon, Labor would never lose then!

Ahaha, have to target winnable seats I guess.

I told my local state member I can’t help campaign, not up to it this year.

If you only ticked one box—you didn’t cast a valid vote!

Reminds me a an OHenry story. . .

A small time crim, with winter approaching, decides a nice warm cell in the New York prison is the thing.

So he considers what to do: his jacket and shirt are pretty neat, he decides to go into a posh restaurant, order and eat an expensive meal then say he couldn’t pay. Goes to the restaurant—gets the bum’s rush out—head waiter seen his crappy trousers and worn out shoes.

A couple of other schemes meet a similar fate. All this brought him to the footpath outside the cathedral where hymns were being sung. As he stood there looking at the cathedral and deciding to turn over a new leaf and find work and become a respectable citizen he feels the heavy hand of the law “So, planning to steal the plate from the Cathedral eh? Be three months most likely!”

2 hours? there was no one there when I got there, and 4 QEC volunteers ready to service me

I've taken longer to unlock my mailbox in the past than I did to vote today

Antony Green says there's definitely a small swing to Labor which looks like it's picking up some seats in Brisbane.

It's rather hard to see how the LNP could end up with more seats than Labor on these figures.
ALP - 40
LNP - 30
One Nation - 1
Katter - 3

Please provide an update on Noosa

-Dr Jan
So here's the update.

Independent Sandra Bolton is ahead on a massive primary vote of 32% compared with sitting LNP member Glen Elmes on 19.7%.

Antony Green says Ms Bolton has a strong chance of winning.

One seat less for the LNP
