Hurricane Florence

Florence is a beast.

This is a storm of the east coast of the US. It has a 9' (3m) storm surge. This is on top of the higher sea levels off the US east coast plus some land subsidence. No wonder officials have issued mandatory evacuation orders.

The other bad thing about Florence: like other cyclones Florence is moving more slowly so huge rainfall is going to pound and pound whatever area is under the cyclone. Forty inches of rain! That in a few days, cataclysmic flooding!

Some will “ride it out” hope they have bottled water and gas and non–perishable food for about a month, could be that long before power, gas and reticulated safe drinking water are restored and temperatures will be about 90–85°F—no fan or a/c.

How vested interests prevented up to date sea level rise information from being used.

Gonna pay for that stupidity now!

those legislators that came up with that cockamamie idea should be sued for everything they're worth. I hope the residents of North Carolina start a class action suit
FD.
I hope that bitch who was running their brothels for them gets raped with a cactus.

A primer on hurricanes:

Not too technical, have a read.

As the seas keep warming all storms will be fed energy and moisture by the seas.

Another hurricane slams into southern US, at the Florida pan handle:

https://www.smh.com.au/world/north-america/potentially-catastrophic-florida-s-hurricane-michael-makes-landfall-20181011-p508xv.html

Cat 4, sprung uo quickly driven by abnormally hot Gulf of Mexico—warmer oceans do feed storms moisture and heat and when the moisture condenses the latent heat given up further drives the storm.

So he, like so many thousands on the Panhandle, had decided to ride it out.

"I believe from what I've seen in the past, we're going to be OK," he said. "I'm thinking God's going to take us through it."

Isn’t Gawd wunnerful?

Unsettling to see that #Michael has shown no signs of weakening even though its now in central portions of the #Florida Peninsula. This is a very atypical storm, and feeder bands are still pulling in moisture from the warm Gulf waters. #FLwx #ALwx
