New Ice Age myths

For scientific papers on AGW, record happenings in the Arctic and the Greenland, Himalayan and Antarctic icesheets. Also weatherstorms and higher than average rainfalls and other extreme weather events.

Storm Caroline dumps snow in parts of the UK.

Ice Age claims Booby and roach.

Really? Looked into the origins of Storm Caroline? Nah, too hard I guess.

Met Office forecasts slightly warmer temperatures over the next few days:
https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/

We see the storm and we can also see a high pressure system to the NW of the storm, that might be a blocking system keeping the storm over the British Isles.

No matter how many times you tell them individual weather events don’t confirm or deny AGW or the ice age etc come a cold spell or snow anywhere—Ice Age! goes the cry. Booby has also been told by The Barnacle, but never took it in, that precipitation is not the same as cooling.

I would just point out: warmer lower atmosphere and warmer seas lead to more evaporation and consequent higher precipitation. Snow is a form of precipitation.

Previous to this Booby posted (one of his silly videos:)

Record snow across the S.E.. USA and Mexico, all time record rains in Mumbai India

Lots of precipitation. Where does all that moisture come from, Boobhead, if we are in an ice age, eh? Wouldn’t more water be locked up in ice? Would evaporation, and consequent precipitation, be less from colder seas into colder air that can hold less moisture?

Now, booby you gullible fool, if we are in an ice age why are glaciers on Greenland, West Antarctica and East Antarctica retreating? You never answer any of these questions, do you? Why is that? Easier to let yourself be conned, just watch without understanding silly videos describing cold weather events some of which have actually taken place?

If there is so much extra snow falling—the water had to be evaporated from oceans first! Right?

Like Storm Caroline, travelling over the warmer east Atlantic picking up moisture to dump as (temporary) snow on the British Isles?

If we were in an ice age some of this snow would be permanent, right? No, the polar regions are warming and the tundra, the permafrost, is melting, the most northerly city on the planet is having to be evacuated because the melting permafrost is destroying buildings.

You know N O T H I N G about weather or climate, do you Booby? This is what, the third or fourth year the silly videos report/lie/exaggerate about cold weather in winter?

Winter snow melts, glaciers are retreating almost everywhere, even on East Antarctica—funny ice age, don’t you think?

Atmospheric compression events, do you even know what they are? They are not what Dubyne says they are you know. Have a look in wiki. While there, look up snow, how it forms, could be educational if you have the intelligence to read and understand snow formation and how it could snow in summer.

“Hide the decline” and all the little denier fringe dwellers said that meant temperatures were declining.

I am referring of course to “Climategate’ the hacking of the Uni of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit email server.

Pretty funny Phil Jones said “hide the decline” in 1999, the year after the HUGE El Nino event.

Deniers often claim that we only display tree ring data until 1960 because we know it proves temperatures are actually declining since then. That's because they're unaware of the divergence problem, or they think it's something we made up as an excuse for the Climategate revelations. This claim can be easily disproven by picking up the literature. The first two major papers about the divergence problem were both published in 1995, four years before Phil Jones wrote the infamous email, and fourteen years before the alleged scandal. Proof that dendroclimatology data became unreliable after 1960 was fully public and well known to everyone in the field, and had been for years.

Claims that "hide the decline" meant "hide the fact that global temperatures have been declining" are also unraveled by the timeline. Phil's email was 1999, and 1998 had been the hottest year on record, peaking a global rise throughout the 1990s that nobody disputed, as it was all instrumental data. There had been no decline of global temperatures to hide.

If you do any search for this online, you're quickly going to see that most of the climate change denialist writing contracts Jones' email into the following: "Mike's trick to hide the decline." As is obvious by now, Michael Mann's multiple data sets on one graph has nothing at all to do with the tree ring divergence problem. That's why neither Phil Jones nor anyone else who knew what they were talking about ever used the phrase "Mike's trick to hide the decline"; there was no such thing. The phrase had to be manufactured by deniers by cherrypicking words out of unrelated parts of Phil's email.

(No, Lees {sigh} this is not Skeptical Science)

Funny, even when Climategate happened I knew “hide the decline” meant dendroclimatology—tree rings diverged after 1960, apparently showing a cooling trend despite instrument readings, glacier retreat etc etc showing increasing temperatures. I guess only pig ignorant know nothings like Booby believed the lies about climategate. Fools!

Booby of course believes an obvious lying charlatan and thinks we are in an ice age :rofl :rofl

FFS, an ice age when Arctic ice is disappearing, almost all glaciers are in retreat even on East Antarctica! Sea levels are rising and so is precipitation! If the globe was cooling as Booby thinks, there would be MORE water locked up as ice and LESS evaporation from colder ocean into colder air followed by LESS precipitation as the moist air moves over land. Not happening, Houston has 52" of rain in ONE WEEK, Florida got hit by THREE hurricanes dropping huge amounts of rain. Dubyne then pretends moldy fruit is caused by the ice age that isn’t.

Jesus fucking Christ, Dubyne is sucking every last drop out of Storm Ophelia! Is in the past, bet Dubyne is STILL talking about it next week!

And Booby sucks it all in, yet cannot defend the cascade of bullshit that is a Dubyne video.

Because of the ice age, lies Dubyne, crops are failing all over:

Raw sugar futures tumble
International sugar prices are struggling to reach US14 cents a pound as the 2017/18 international crop year remains on track for a surplus, according to Rabobank’s latest Global Sugar Quarterly.

:oops

Wheat crops have been bloody good too!

Hey! Booby has an orgasm. Dubyne has found a paper to support his “GCR causes clouds” bullshit.

Sorry, not a real scientific paper at all, just torture and select data until you get a “correlation” and say your “theory” is proved. Dubyne then runs with it and seems to have struck the right note—several pages of comments, only one or two dissenting. Mass hysteria.

No links to bullshit sites.

Looking at all this, and seeing how uncritically Booby laps up all the Dubyne crap it is impossible that he has had tertiary education!

Is there any quantitative basis for claims of a mini ice age? Zharkova and her colleagues have cited a 1997 article by Judith Lean, who showed the sun’s brightness (quantified by solar irradiance) was 3 W per m2 less during the Maunder minimum than today. More recent studies, including those by Lean, find the solar irradiance varies less than was thought in 1997.

In plain English, the small change in sunlight reaching the Earth during a new Maunder minimum wouldn’t be enough to reverse climate change. For the technically minded, even a 3 W per m2 change in irradiance corresponds to a radiative forcing of just 0.5 W per m2 (because the Earth is a sphere and not a flat circle), which is less than the radiative forcing produced by anthropogenic greenhouse gases.

To be blunt: no mini ice age for us. The real story of the impending mini ice age isn’t about climate at all. It is a cautionary tale, of how science should and shouldn’t be communicated.

The lessons to be learned from this is scientists must communicate their science concisely and accurately, especially if we are to avoid the media frenzy highlighted by the ABC’s Media Watch. If scientists, science organisations and media aren’t careful, they can inadvertently end up promoting dangerous misinformation.

Of course, Booby and The Moronic jumped on the Ice Age!!! bandwagon. Oh, it hurt me to post the abstract of the original paper that didn’t mention any ice age. It really hurt to tell them the facts instead of the bullshit they were orgasming about. Fuckwits.
