Trump re-writes History

Link.

But his biggest snafu came when Trump combined three historical events: the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812 and when planes were invented in the 20th century.

'Our Army manned the air, it rammed the ramparts, it took over airports, it did everything it had to do and at Ft. McHenry under the rocket's red glare had nothing but victory,' he said.

Trump appeared to conflate the continental army's revolutionary campaign with the invention of the airplane by the Wright brothers in the early 1900s. The first airport didn't exist until 1928, more than 150 years after the initial period Trump spoke about.

His next factual inaccuracy came when Trump suggested that the continental army had been the deciding factor in winning the battle at Fort McHenry.

The only problem with that statement is that Fort McHenry was the site of the Battle of Baltimore and the War of 1812 - decades after the continental was disbanded in 1783.
