Protection from people with guns.

You Americans just don't get it, and you never will.

Gun ownership is a disease in your country, and it's slowly wiping out your children.

So I was just curious as to whether your government makes statistics available that report the demographics of crime and criminals.

And I said that this information is readily available by U.S. government sources regarding crime in the U.S. I can easily get statistics on age, gender, and race of criminals. Plus it's easy to get information on individual states and individual cities. In the U.S., these demographics do not include the suspect's religion. It's just not a question that is ever asked.

I get the feeling that your government shields you from information that it deems to be unhelpful for you to know.

You mean, it's politically corrected!

This bullshit, you mean?

"What will your response be if 4 "youths" break into your house armed with knives or clubs?"

Well first, I don't spend my entire life worrying about the possibility of being a victim of crime (as many Americans seem to).

And, the answer is, I'd do whatever I'd have to do to defend myself with whatever I have in the house.

I have no desire whatsoever to own a gun.

There's more chance of me being hit and killed by a bus than there is of my home being invaded by four youths with knives and clubs.

Happy now, DRAH?

This is all the Americans keep arguing with you and you simply don't acknowledge what they've said because you're a dogg of false argument, buddy: i.e. YOU DON'T LISTEN :Hi

I just wonder, if -- God forbid -- Gweggy's daughter were being brutally attacked, & her life was in the balance, knowing every second could be her last, if a firearm were within his grasp, would he ignore that option, & look for an alternative?

I'd take the firearm.

That scenario didn't happen, though.

I prefer to live in the real world.

A world where I don't spend every moment of the day worrying about whether or not I, or any member of my family, will be a victim of crime.

To me, that's no life at all.

If I was "living" in a community where a gun was a necessity, I'd move.

But that's just me.

I was born & lived in America for over 40 years, in quite a few tough neighborhoods (much tougher than I ever seen here in Australia), & I really never worried at all. I carried a legal handgun illegally for most of those years, simply because I wanted to, & I never needed to actually use it....shoot anyone.....I took it out a few times & threatened to use it, but I never had to pull the trigger. Most of those years were the best years of my life, & I would have never traded them to live anywhere else.....

Now, if my wife were able to live away from her children, & her grand-children, we'd be living happily in the States today, & visiting them here in Australia every 6 or so months, instead of it being the other way around.....& that's an absolute fact!

Why?

You just said that you weren't worried, so why the hell did you carry a gun?

This is what I mean about gun ownership being a disease in America.

For no other reasons than I did because I simply & purely wanted to, & I'd rather have it at my disposal if I ever needed one, rather than wishing I had one & didn't make my choice to be carrying one.

PS....as I said earlier I never had to shoot anyone down, but a few times I scared the bejesis outa some spooks when push almost came to shove......but, if I needed to defend my life, they would've been worm food...............better them than me. Image

The facts are when you took out your gun you were in fear of your life.... or you wouldn't have pulled it out.

You simply don't come across those situations in Australia because we don't border Mexico, let alone the rest of the Americas that have forever been desperate to reach the American black market. WE SIMPLY JUST DON'T HAVE THE SAME SITUATION AND GREGGY KNOWS THAT BUT PRETENDS HE DOESN'T BY THE SIMPLE STRATEGY OF NOT LISTENING.

How'd that turn out for him? Santa Anna lost several times more people than we did at the Alamo. It weakened his army considerably.

Our next battle cry was "Remember the Alamo" and we sent Mexico packing.

That flag was from the first battle of the Texas Independence War. The Gonzales flag was made after Mexico demanded that the Texians turn over their cannon to the Mexican military. Mexico lost that battle. I think that photo was of the actual flag flown in the battle.

A doubtless tragedy, but why dwell only in sorrow for those 250+ souls, rather celebrate in joy for the other 59+ million school age American children who had a great year so far.

Children have died, & will die, each & every day of the year...including today, in spite of all the efforts to preserve their young lives. The death of any child is tragic, but life doesn't stop in spite of all the cruelty in the world.....no, life must go on. Celebrate the living, but never forget those who have past.

Say a prayer too for the more than 2,500 children that were aborted in the USA yesterday, also a great tragedy. ImageImageImage
