worlds problems are caused by the same things that caused yesteryears' problems.

Power, those that have it, and those that want it.

Yes it is. Let's use the example of Mussolini. He initially was a socialist - subscribing to the internationalist view of class conflict. But, WWI changed this view - he began to disregards class and see nation as more important. This was because he saw both rich and poor alike in the trenches. As a result of his nationalism, he was expelled from the Italian Socialist party.

I'm using this example to try and ask in a simplistic view - is it class or nation? Who's right? Marx or Mussolini in this regard? Class transcends nation according to Marxist view; but nation trumps class according to the Fascist view.

Ultimately, are we more united by our class differences or by our national similarities?

Yeh, right: good question.

Well I suppose nationality becomes a class when it comes to war- so war represents a major change of context... so, ... for instance, this country had the shame of not allowing it's aboriginal fighters to not be allowed to drink in the pub for instance and white Australia felt much shame for that because these people put their bodies on the line just like anyone else thus making us all feel as the same class.

Let me ask you this: whom would you rally behind? The poor disenfranchised family from Guatemala or the rich Australian who speaks out against their entry into America?

So, does class transcend nation, or does nation transcend class?
