Filling Senate vacancies

Nah.

A wanker gets voters based on their Party Membership. Some people get less than 20 votes personally but enough vot for their Party to see them elected to the Senate.

It is insane that they can take a Senate seat on that basis, and then resign from the Party whose support got him there in the first place.

That person is morally and ethically bankrupt and is ripping us off for naked personal gain.

With those qualifications, he should have joined the Liberal Party.

This is why we should abolish voting above the line. Now that we can vote for just a few candidates below the line, above-the-line voting is not necessary.
