Crypto- virtual- currencies

Postby HBS Guy » 05 Oct 2017, 12:56

A Bitcoin ATM has just been opened in Sydney, buy bitcoins using $A.

I must admit I have not followed this at all, think it will be pretty niche. But I could be wrong.

Be nice if someone who knows could provide some info on this.

I haven't followed it either. Might be ok but just watch the risk involved - I'd imagine it could easily become worthless next time the shit hit the fan.

Bitcoin has the appearence of another speculative tulip or US sub-prime mortgage mania and it appears increasingly likely that it's meteoric rise of late is underpinned by a global counterfeiting operation of epic proportions.

Regulators should move in and shut these things down before they become big enough and widespread enough to form the seeds of the next GFC. If they aren't there already.
