I like seeing them, but I'm not always home to take care of the flag. It's almost like having a pet and I don't want to put that task on my family. Maybe I'll do it right some day and put up a pole with built in lighting, but not today.
Ah, I was unaware of that.

Can genuinely see the ' ..... flag etiquette and ultimately disrespect the flag ..... ' aspect.

Sorry, I have disrespected our flag. Unintentionally.

I don't agree with bogans using the Aussie flag to push their racism.
In this country it's just a show of pride, and it has nothing whatsoever to do with racism.
for me it shows pride in your country

if you feel too ashamed to fly your flag, so be it
Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel - Samuel Johnson (wasn't he a founding Father ?)
"Patriotism is the virtue of the vicious,” - Oscar Wilde :purple
Samuel Johnson was most certainly NOT one of our founding fathers. He was loyal to Great Britain. He believed American colonists "voluntarily resigned the power of voting" when they left Great Britain, and he wrote that if Americans wanted to vote on taxes, they could come back to Great Britain, purchase an estate, and then vote.

No wonder he didn't have anything good to say about patriotism.
ahh yes I mixed him up with William Samuel Johnson , who was definitely on America's side. :purple

I'm not the "flag police" and I'm not out to shame anyone. That's just how I feel about it and why I haven't put a flag up. I see them in my neighborhood flown in tatters or unlit at night. I won't start a war with neighbors over their flag. I may post on Nextdoor without calling anybody out individually about flag etiquette, but we get along with everybody in my neighborhood (about 40 houses) and I don't want to change that. I guess I don't want to be caught disrespecting the flag because it would be extra embarassing as a veteran.

I keep my flag lit up at night, and when it gets old, faded and frayed, I get a new one and respectfully retire the old one.

3 year old was enjoying a bath
when he pointed to his testicles and says
'mum, is that my brain?'
Mum looks at him and says
'not yet dear'.

Canadians eat Canadian bacon and don't have semiauto pistols at the table. I don't think they are legal up there.

I don't sit mine on the table, but it is on my hip at the table. I only take it off during the day at home if I'm napping or working so that I am crawling around and climbing ladders. (Sex is included as "napping".) It's comfortable and I don't even notice it. My wife keeps hers close, and if small kids are in the house they are either holstered on our hip or locked up in our 200kg safe. We frequently keep our great niece and my granddaughter visits. She is coming to see me later this month. :yahoo

Anthropomorphic Nouns

I thought this might be boring, but stick with it. You'll love the ending. Have a good day
We are all familiar with a ...

Herd of cows,

A Flock of chickens,

A School of fish

And a Gaggle of geese.

However, less widely known is:

A Pride of lions,

A Murder of crows (as well as their cousins the rooks and ravens),

An Exaltation of doves

And, presumably because they look so wise:

A Parliament of owls.

Now consider a group of Baboons.

Baboons are the loudest, most dangerous, most obnoxious, most viciously aggressive and least intelligent of all primates.

And what is the proper collective noun for a group of baboons?

Believe it or not... A Congress!

(Note: I hadn't heard that before, so I looked it up. It is correct!)

A CONGRESS OF BABOONS!

That pretty much explains the things that come out of Washington !

You just can't make this stuff up!
