I watched one episode. It didn't grab me. Not many TV series do. And when they do, I usually tire of it after the first season.

GoT is an exception. First time I've been stuck on a series since Sopranos.

The Sopranos is perhaps the best tv i've ever seen ... although much of me wonders if that is because it was exceptional in it's day, y'know, when telly was kinda ordinary. The Sopranos (and The Wire) were actual quality in a sea of tripe. Six Feet Under comes to mind also. I wonder if they'd stand out so far in today's field?

These days we're spoiled for choice. I'm pretty impatient too ... and easily pissed off, as i have just demonstrated. My Netflix and Stan histories are packed with shows i've only watched one or two of.

But trust me on Vikings. If you've even a passing interest in the history, they nailed it. Horribly so at times.

Yes, The Sopranos and The Wire were very good.

I have only just returned the Foxtel IQ box, because I stopped Foxtel, as the deal with Telstra ran out. I got it free, it was $20 per month, and Telstra put it in a deal for free for me.
But now, it's about $29 a month or something, and decided nope.
My son showed me his Apple box thingy, whatever it's called, and he only pays $10 a month for Netflix. It sounds like a good deal.
I am on ADSL 2 so hopefully it will work for me?
Can't get anything more than ADSL 2 in my area.

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs

If is a Cowboy scenario by the Coen Brothers.

Somewhat unusual.

I've been umming and arring about that one for the last few nights but in each case I've scrolled past it. I'll have to watch it.

Finished 'Better Call Saul' season 4 on the weekend - good stuff.

Started watching The Wire (never seen an episode before), but it seems a bit dated - the camera work is a bit corny.

Don't think I'll stick with that one.

I just watched a film called "Ironclad" with King John and the Knights Templars.
Oh gosh.....not left to the imagination at all with those huge swords!!
I couldn't watch it.
Fascinating about the history of it all, although I was reading some of it isn't quite accurate, but basically, most of it was.

What a harsh time to live in, and to get this Magna Carta signed, which took years to change for the better to implement it.

It's great. Bunch of short stories told deliciously by my absolute favourite Coen Brothers.

And just to make my year, one starring Tom Waits. I came over all funny.

I recommend it. The production may be dated but the writing, acting and directing are absolute top shelf.

I want to watch it, just for Walton Goggins, but it just seemed so dated.

Maybe I'll give it another go.

That's the 'is he really a bad guy' from Justified, yeah?

I'm wracking my brain to place him in The Wire. If he's in it, he's not got a major role that i can recall.

Ahh, i've not watched The Shield but going by that photo, it looks pretty cheesy.

I don't think The Wire is on Netflix or Stan, then again i haven't gone looking for it.

I don't even know where I got The Wire from - I've never heard of it before.

But yeah, I wanted to watch The Shield - because of Goggins - but it's just too dated.

Hopefully Walton will do something new soon.

Another season of Justified would be nice - or a feature length movie.

I've mentioned The Wire a few times, as an example of absolute excellence. I was turned onto it by a film maker friend. He told me it was better than The Sopranos. I refused to believe him.

It's as good i would say.

But i'd be interested to hear how it's aged and how it stands up to today's crop, of which excellence is not unheard.

So much good stuff out there these days i'm starting to get quite snobby about what i watch.

I've never seen an episode of The Sopranos either.

It's the one with Bruce Springsteen's guitarist starring in it, isn't it?

Before Netflix and Stan, I didn't really watch a lot of TV.

Yes. And he's amazing. Oh Greg, you've seriously got to watch The Sopranos. It's absolutely brilliant.

Telly has historically been crap and not really worth watching but a few shows stood out. The Sopranos and The Wire broke ground by being so well produced that they were considered cinematic quality. A few other shows tried to jump aboard and some, like 6 Feet Under, kinda almost made it ... but those two did something not seen on tv before ... at least from the US. Britain has always been a bit better at it.

It's still $100?!?! Jesus!

Well, i suppose that speaks to both it's quality and why it's not on Netflix or Stan ... if they're still pulling that in for it.

You could probably rent it through youtube or somewhere. Watched a few movies on there of late. Just a few dollars and presto.
