Another I've doubtless heard somewhen.

Umm, I've casting my mind back to when I had that first real OPERA experience. :roll Sounds bizarre, but it happened, ME whose favourite singers ranged far and wide.. but solely within the familiar.

I am almost certain it was a part of her final performance in Australia, at the Opera House. It was an afternoon, perhaps a Sunday, and it was on ABC. She had lost her husband by then, and I can't describe to you how much it affected me. Here I am 20 odd years on, and I still recall the exquisite sound.

There is a track I am trying to find, have it on vinyl somewhere, from “Last Time I saw Paris” I think. Drum and piano, unlikely partners yet fantastic music.

Thanks so much Mothra. The first clip, was excellent.. and I watched the youtube footage of the interview with David Letterman.
A complex person he was indeed. He was as straight as a die, apparently. He just had that sort of brain.

Jeez, that was a long time ago now. So Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention weren't your cup of tea..
what about Little Feat..? I used to love them.
Sigh, back in the day.

Um your last post.. you said you liked.. didn't come up.

Thanks again.. I'm going to check out the other stuff .... :thumb

OK .. :thumb got that one.. right up the poop shute,,

typical Frank... so dense .. so much to say..

the music he made was complex, and the verse? :bgrin WOW..
he was quite offensive to many. He challenged cliches and the status quo...
I admit , at the time I was into hallucinogens..I doubt I would have been as responsive/open to his music otherwise. :bgrin :bgrin

used to have some of his albums, on vinyl.

I still LOVE some of his stuff. I can still hear them ..in my head,, if I choose.

Don't suppose you can find Movin' to Montana ..? It was on one of his more popular albums UMM..
It also had Dynamo Hum on it.. jeez stretching the memory here..

I give up...

oh well thanks :bgrin

I used to spend my nights out in a barroom
Liquor was the only love I've known
But you rescued me from reachin' for the bottom
And brought me back from being too far gone
You're as smooth as Tennessee whiskey
You're as sweet as strawberry wine
You're as warm as a glass of brandy
And honey, I stay stoned on your love all the time
I've looked for love in all the same old places
Found the bottom of a bottle always dry
But when you poured out your heart I didn't waste it
'Cause there's nothing like your love to get me high
You're as smooth as Tennessee whiskey
You're as sweet as strawberry wine
You're as warm as a glass of brandy
And honey, I stay stoned on your love all the time

From Wiki ...

America is an American rock band that was formed in London in 1970 by Dewey Bunnell, Dan Peek, and Gerry Beckley. The trio met as sons of US Air Force personnel stationed in London, where they began performing live.

I liked their music a lot.
