Now that is something I haven't heard for approx. 45 yrs.

Led Zeppelin are definitely hugely central to much that has followed. Around about Zep II they were obviously trying to adapt to the Pink Floyd influence .. not so well, but then they found their way.

One of my very first albums I bought was Obscured By Clouds, by Pink Floyd. Prev..? Best of Simon and Garfunkel... and Best of Jose Feliciano.!! WOW.. Jose Feliciano ..incredible guitar..

Anyway.
After Meddle… and Dark Side of the Moon, I started going backwards in the Floyd albums, and bought UmmaGumma, Relics, etc.. and then forwards to Animals, Wish You were Here, etc. I still own CDs of Pink Floyd, AND Led Zeppelin.

I honestly , honestly , don't think any acts have really surpassed these amazing bands.
I mean YES.. well maybe not YES, but they did have a great song.. but anyway.. I listen to popular music not at all, these days. It's all so repetitive, derivative and boring.
Oh I get the occasional pop theme.. well couldn't name u one actually. Oh OK Taylor Swift ROAR? or was that Katy Perry.? GAF. :roll
And all that US City music.. you know.? Rap and Hip Hop and the rest..? Some of that is catchy.. but .. great music..? Not in my opinion.

I like this ...

:bgrin
Even the video works..

from the little Mexican kid in his cowboy suit and pistoleros, to the guy driving the groovy car, to the pilot of the plane, and the glider...... to the guys on bikes ripping up the dunes, to the beautiful people of colour dancing so perfectly, to the truck driver, even the puppy alerted, .. all fading into the sunset. Sigh.

:bgrin

it conjures up in me a great sadness.
I'd go so far as to say I think it represents the absolutely BEST POP pre-apocalyptic vision from the 80's. (in my limited experience)

It is fraught with ideas. It's true.

Pinkeye, I hope you find this one sassy enough :bgrin

This is an original song that they wrote.

Thanks Seth. I'll put it on hold, for now.

Did you like Tears for Fears.? THAT song in particular.. tho they had others. But they were British, so maybe you never heard of them.

Umm oh I hope you're not suffering from the floods we are hearing about from that latest storm .

That song was a hit in the U.S. I’ve heard it many times. Nice pleasing melody and beat makes it a toe tapper.

The flooding is in Texas. We’re fine here in the Pacific Northwest. It’s been wet lately, but nothing out of the ordinary.

about my question re Everybody Wants To Rule the World..??

I know it is all that, but WHAT ABOUT the lyrics.?

Simplistic, and compelling.
They even apologise for the fade-out of the end of the song and vid.

So sad they had to fade it
everybody wants to rule the world

It is a classic. The video is so chock full of visual references as well, the more I watch it, and listen to it, the more I appreciate it.
Who knew.? :wub
