For something to do I went to the Pt Adelaide Market. Usual jumble of untidy stalls but one took my eye.

Guy makes furniture out of jarrah, red gum and some other really hard timber. The jarrah comes from a forest, is not recycled. Told him what I was looking for and will go back again mid year and arrange to have a side table or two made. He makes it very simply, letting the wood do the talking.

That was worth the trip and the $3.50 parking.

Christ but jarrah is a damn hard wood: doorstep in the back door, 60 years of use, have to look hard to see the wear!
