Christmass–New Year and holiday season

Postby HBS Guy » 13 Dec 2019, 16:58

Hope everyone here has a great time meeting up with relatives and/or friends, the kids running riot after the enforced good behavior at the lunch/dinner table.

When I drove to go to the family get together for lunch I never drank a drop—need your wits about you when some have dined a bit too well.

Make a fuss of the older family members—and make sure they will be OK in the heat to come. Ask parents of new babies if they will be OK, We are all going to have to look out for each other more and more as the planet heats and governments blather or fiddle.

I do not care if you are white or yellow or brown or black or purple, Homo sapiens needs some things to survive. Excessive heat, lack of moisture and bushfires are not one of those!

Anyway, have a great feast of whatever fits your religion or philosophy. Just don’t imbibe alcohol until you are home again, OK!

Merry Christmass everyone!

For those like me, this may provide some wry amusement:

Yeah, Happy Christmas everyone. We have the best sort. Just the two of us, eat what and when we like, drink ditto and nobody has to drive anywhere.

And it looks as though Tassie is going to get off relatively lightly re the heat next week, thank god. Stay safe, everyone. Bloody glad I live here and not on the mainland. :tweed

I would like to wish you all a happy Christmas time whether you are with friends, rellies, or on your own, enjoy the day.
And have a happy new year. I pray mine will be better than it has been this year. Need to keep positive, healthy and at peace with oneself.
Cheers! :beer

Do you think the members of the other forum read in here?
I know who they are, as I was/still am, a member, but many newbies in here don't know.
Well, in any case, if there is a chance others are reading this without being in here, merry Christmas to them too :beer

Hope everyone washed up safe and happy.

We suffered a casualty. My lad dropped a rock on his brand new Playstation 4. It's cactus. Don't think the warranty covers act of rock.

And my laptop died unexpectedly.

Seriously .. godamnit.

But we all survived. My brother, meanwhile, is waiting by the phone to see if his family need to evacuate. Perspective.

"Perspective".

You reminded me ... I may have mentioned it before on PA. After having a son in war, after going to the funerals of his battle buddies during his deployments, after being afraid to come home for fear of military men waiting in front of our house to give us the news, after him almost dying from wounds, after spending time with the wounded at Bethesda Naval Hospital .... Ever since then, when things like the broken Playstation or the laptop happen, there is something my wife and I say to each other.

"Well, nobody died."

Perspective.

Been invited for quite a number of years by neighbours of the Orthodox persuasion!

Been Celebrating 2 Xmases for quite awhile.

Woollies and Coles, instead of starting Hot cross buns earlier, they should extend their Xmas promotions for a longer period.
