I had a nice little program, Vantage, that could make a text file dance the can can. It could strip control characters out of a file on nought seconds flat. Alas Apple moved from PowerPC chips to Intel chips and the program doesn’t work anymore. It was called McSink for a while—everything in there bar the kitchen sink.

Very handy to have: I ran data bases and did imports and exports of text files from the databases: if an error was encountered I would load the import file into Vantage and clean it up.

Anyway, that is the problem, there is a control character, an invisible character like carriage returns, linefeeds etc in the wrong place.

How's your Martian, Seth?

Just tried again. I cannot tell the story of my spider bite.

I could try it one sentence at a time. There are 15 sentences.

I was wearing boots that went up to the bottom of my calf and heavy socks that went up to just below the knee.

The spider crawled up past the sock and bit me twice on the back side of the knee joint.

I never felt the bites. Damn things have something in their venom that anesthetizes the spot they bite.

Didn't realize it until about 24 hours later when I felt an itch and went to scratch it.

When I did, I felt two large lumps, each about the size of a dime.

The venom of those spiders is not a nerve agent, but, instead, it destroys living tissue.

For the spider, it turns its normal prey into a soup it can eat.

For humans, these bites are dangerous if untreated because the necrotizing tissue can spread like gangrene.

I went to an emergency room, and the doc put an antibiotic patch over it and gave me a prescription of antibiotics.

I figured out that the program doesn't like the proper name for a common antibiotic.

Pen i cil lin

If I put that word together, it's 403 Forbidden.

Test:

Penicillins are a group of antibacterial drugs that attack a wide range of bacteria. They were the first drugs of this type that doctors used. The discovery and manufacture of penicillins have changed the face of medicine, as these drugs have saved millions of lives.
