I know it isn’t spring yet but it felt like it to me.

So I am going to make Thai fish cakes! Bought deep sea bream, cheap! Coriander, cucumber and green beans. Already have red curry paste, pickled garlic and ginger. Yum!

Duck and mushroom ravioli Saturday.

I shall take refuge in this thread from all the name calling.

Food looks great. I am the cook of the family and having trouble with my two boys aged 5 and 3.

If anyone has any good ideas for food that toddlers wont turn their noses up at then i would be most appreciative!

Really young ones like strong tasting food like olives after that it is a battle. Meat and chicken usually not a problem. Fish a bit more problematic except as fish & chips but can’t eat fried food all the time.

sushi (just don't give them raw fish at that age)

Kids like pies, make some nice pork pie, fish pie. Can put mushroom, bits fennel bulb in both.

home made sausage rolls are good for that to ... if you use frozen pastry sheets they're very easy to make.

Exactly, some good sausages, a roll of pastry, brush on some egg wash, into the oven!

Hamburgers, add some decent cheese, slice beetroot, one of tomato and introduce some lettuce, cos or curly, not the dreaded iceberg.

I wouldn't use sausage. Just some mince, I prefer pork but we also do chicken, mixed with finely diced vege's ..... kids can't get enough

These are all brilliant suggestions!

I do my own sausage rolls but find it quite labour intensive with me and the missus full time work and a masters degree on the go.

The pie idea sounds great as i can sneak all the veggies in! Its only my crumbed chicken, spaghetti (hi bongalong) bol, and bangers and mash that i know will be a winner. They even went off my home cooked lasagne....... it's not like i'm giving them steamed broccoli

haha i'm at my wits end but wouldn't take it back for anything.

Try ravioli. With a garlicky pesto.

Stuffed mushrooms.

Make a nice desert—use it as blackmail: eat the creamed {shudder} broccoli and you can have desert!

Reckon I will make a batch of bara brith today.

I made Osso Bucco today.

Actually used a recipe in a book... but had to substitute some ingredients.

YUM.

BUT sadly I have burned my left hand. IT really shits me off because I had multiple notes to self, NOT to handle the cookware without proper insulation. I used steel cookware, and transferred the pot to the oven, REMINDING MYSELF, not to use the handle.!! Its a nice picee, and perfect , but usually use it as a saucepan, on TOP of the stove. This time I used it to cook the Osso Bucco in the oven.

So I was good, right up until about hr 2.
Nearly done, I pulled it out and checked the tenderness. all with a good cloth barrier. But then..? :roll with a knife in my right hand, genty prodding the meat, I grabbed the handle of the saucepan to rotate it...………….. :jump :purple I dropped it , and started running my hand under the cold tap, and have been actively watering and icing it.. swishing around in iced water .. since about 6.00 pm aest.

I managed to eat some of the Osso Bucco in the meantime... :) but.. I must continue to cool this burn down. Cheers. :thumb

Jesus, Pinky, be careful!

A woman I knew one time, chip pan caught on fire, she grabbed it and put it in the sink. When she let go—her fingers remained stuck to the handle!

apparently putting toothpaste on a burn as soon as it happens prevents blisters .... used to work at a pizza restaurant and the cooks in the kitchen always had a tube of toothpaste in their for just such an occassion (by toothpaste, I'm talking about the traditional stuff, I'm not sure if the mint, gel or whitening stuff works)

Guy I employed at the brewshop used to work at a pizza place: started off every day kneading 20Kg of pizza dough!

He also worked at a landscaping place. Boss told him they were going to a slow payer’s place and thoughtfully selected a pick and a crowbar and loaded them in the ute. Guy didn’t know what to think, looked like intimidation or murder was on the agenda! Nah, they just did some work there. He left not long after that—didn’t like the boss’ sense of humor!
