Probably, Richard standing on the roof of the car “looking over the wall” was classic.

Australian comic actor Ross Higgins, most famous for his role as Ted Bullpitt in Kingswood Country, dies at 86.

Didn’t think much of Kingswood Country I have to say.

Vale Ross Higgins - but I too was never much of a fan. I didn't mind the very last series he starred in, living in the retirement village. With Bruce Spence as the drug-fried gardener :bgrin

It was a long time after Kingswood Country (my grandfather used to drive a Kingswood I recall). I think it was called "Bullpit".

Seems Fidel Castro has entered the commune in the sky.

Yes his revolution was needed but like so many Liberators he turned into yet another dictator.

Ah well, Cuba is well on the way to being another holiday destination for rich yanks.

Footrot Flats creator Murray Ball dies.

Didn’t think that much of FF to be honest but the bits where the aunt’s city dog visited the farm were kinda funny.

Wow, ABC local radio news carried a story about a “Clark” had died early this morning while bushwalking. Thought “Hope it isn’t John Clark of “Clark & Dawe” fame but it was. Damn!

Loved “The Games” series, satirising preparations for the Sydney Olympics, esp the episode where the rep from the central Olympics body arrived for a meeting and dropped dead. So they had the “meeting” and passed a shitload of resolutions etc etc with the Olympics guy there physically anyway :jump

RIP John Clark.

One of his recent best was when he took off Morrison about something passing the 'pub test.'

He and Turnbull, were in a Pub and asked people there if they supported the Government on the issue.......whatever it was.

Dawe: Oh really, who did you ask?

Clarke (as Morrison): I asked Malcolm.

Dawe: And who did he ask?

Clarke (as Morrison:) He asked me Brian.

ABC veteran broadcaster Mark Colvin has died.

https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/live/2017/may/11/australia-federal-budget-2017-reply-bill-shorten-scott-morrison-ndis-medicare-politics-live#comments

Mark, “Colvinius” on Twitter, was one of that rare and vanishing breed, a real journalist, not a rewriter of press releases. Vale, Mark Colvin!

Been looking for the scene from "Moonraker" I think it was, where Moore battles the villain JAWS who has deadly steel teeth in a train carriage - Moore (Bond of course) smashes the bulb from a desk lamp and sticks the live contacts on JAWS steel choppers - classic! :bgrin

Dr G Yunupingu: Australia's most prominent Indigenous musician dies aged 46

(abc website)

The doctorate (in music) is honorary but apparently he was styled Dr G Yunupingu after receiving it.

I don’t like pop music so won’t comment on his music. Did a lot for aboriginal youths in the NT.

Vale Dr G Yunupingu!

‘A GIANT’ Philip Roth, the Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist who wrote “American Pastoral,” “The Human Stain” and “Portnoy's Complaint,” has died in New York of congestive heart failure. He was 85. Here are some of the best tributes to a man whose prolific career spanned more than 50 years. [Reuters]

Didn’t say if he was doing something Portnoy complained about when he died.
