My internet is too limited to watch full length movies, but I’m about to go to Tulsa for 2 weeks and I’ll have good WiFi in the hotel. I’ll put it on my to-do list while I’m gone.

Yes there r a few aussie movies with American actors, the worse even though I love her work was the Lynda Chamberlin affair with Merlyn Streep
Never watch Mad Dog Morgan with Dennis Hooper either...

Red dog is a great movie and based on a true story.

Crackerjack

(The yanks ripped off Animal Kingdom and made a series out of it. A very good series, at that).

Red Dog looks like a really good story and movie.

A tear-jerker, though.

Is Red Dog anything like "Old Yeller"? That was a tear jerker. Or maybe "Where the Red Fern Grows"?

Edit: I just watched the trailer. I thought it was a link to the whole movie on youtube.

The movies I mentioned are older than me.

I have read the book, I am sure, but late primary school/early high school so around 1960 and don’t remember much of it.

Just watch the damn movie!

to me red dog tells the story of a melting pot....in tough times.........

then there was this Kelpy that showed humans just how stupid they can be.....

and it took a dog! (excuse my aussie)

to show real people what is love, loss, loyalty and the bright side

don't like when he got shot............. jokes

cracking soundtrack is all

just a great yarn

I read Old Yeller when I was about 10? It's a very sweet story, but it's also a bit of a cliched snapshot of early American history. Red Dog will give you a look at outback Australia, but with a contemporary feel rather than the cliched old Croc Dundee style tropes that plague most Australian depictions.

Saturday night showed the movie "Red Dog, True Blue" before the other movie came out "Red Dog" which shows the peeps picking him up in them middle of the road with their 4x4 when the dog climbed in.
The movie Red Dog, True Blue I had never seen before, and it was fantastic! It showed why the dog was in the middle of the road at that point, but I won't say much, best everyone watches "Red Dog, True Blue" then watch Red Dog afterwards.

Speaking of aussie movies, I was fortunate enought to buy a cluster of DVD's at a garage sale, a collection in fact, of many of the Aussie Movies.

I must say, I do quote from "The Castle"....like today for instance......talking to these young fellas hoping to sell us a car at a car yard, we talk about all sorts of topics, and they come up with how expensive it is to get married, I said, I never had a reception, back than in 1976, instead of paying $5000 for the reception, my dad gave me the money towards the house instead.

They were amazed, and I said, it wasn't a flash house, a bit small, fibro cement, but it wasn't a house, it was a home!

Then I said, "Just like he says in the movie The Castle, in the court room to the barrister -It's not a house, it's a home ya dickhead!" :bgrin :giggle

it makes me...…………………………... :sad :sad sad.

I don't need to watch movies for THAT experience.

I have no wish to wallow in that.
So ? I don't watch many movies involving animals.

It's obvious you have a tender heart for animals to not be able to bear watching those types of movies, yet many people don't feel much for animals at all.

It think it's always important to have movies about other entities we are sharing on this planet earth with, such as animals, to be made aware they are living souls with feelings.

I have my son's aging dog I care for, have had an instant cosmic connection with him since he was a pup, and I am also caring for my daughter's aging cat....it's like animal hospital here :giggle

There are some people, that just would not understand the love of a pet, we have horses here too we care about, and ducks and all sorts of wildlife, basically, I am NEVER alone! :bgrin
City people wonder how we can live out here in the 'sticks' and I wonder that about them living in the city. I bet more people feel lonely in the city with the hustle and bustle and busy passers by,
than what we country folk do here, with annoying yet funny, birds and animals and occasional drop in visitor for a cuppa and chin wag.
I grew up with animals since I was a baby, and always had them as my companions, where there were no other neighbouring kids for me living so far out of the city area. I never felt I was missing out on anything.
Here I am about 2.5 yrs of age, with my best buddy!

A couple movies I have watched and loved, that are true stories that will bring tears to the eyes....
