Often smaller than mid sized, the bread originated in Wales but is no longer to be found there. When originally bought to Tasmania they made the mistake of taking them Nth to the mainland but they don’t work well in the heat. A fabulous working dog, house dog and not as hysterical as kelpies. Nuty as fruit cakes though until two years old.
I’m an ex-mainland Australain and very much a dog person but I’d never heard of them before coming down here to the last island on earth.

Looked up Smithfield dog. Only in Tasmania, not a recognised breed. Sounds like a decent big dog breed, given that minimum of exercise.
