:bgrin :bgrin

oh well/

Ride of the Valkyries was ……….. Wagner. :roll

Not to worry. Perhaps I shouldn't be so lazy.

As a result of hearing Dame Joan Sutherland, I decided I'd get some opera.
My sister admired this man so

I umm ended up buying a CD, by Carreras.. one of the 3 Tenors.... Placido Domingo , Carreras and the biggest fat singer of them all Pavolotti. Whatever his namewas..

Passion was the name of the CD. Love Songs. Carreras is subtle.
He fought cancer, to make this record, and I don't know , now .. if he is still alive. I revisit it now and then, but the links with my sister (passed) means that doesn't happen very often.

Its old now, but the music isn't. It's ageless.

I'd just like to have some female voices ... I heard a brief piece recently , never caught the name, but...

the hairs rose up, and I got goosebumps............ THAT is music.

Sorry my friend, you've caught me in my blind spot. Apart from a brief flirtation with Andrea Boccelli, i know nothing about opera.

Like, zilch.

Except this. I like this:

ummmmmmmmm

Change of ...??

I first heard for real .. Dame Joan Sutherland .. on an ABC coverage years ago now..... on a scungey TV...….

of one of the performances she gave ... umm towards the latter part of her Career..probably , in London. ??

it was a live performance, with all the pomp and grandeur of opera... she was SOLO.... I can only remember an image of her in her gown onstage,...……. AND ... her voice. !!!! :smitten

It was in Italian. :bgrin So.. I don't know the part... could have been Carmen or ..?? well frankly practically all operatic heroines die ugly deaths.. :roll …. the sheer humanity undid me.

………….. I heard her voice....!! .......................

totally unexpected...

it was exquisite... the suffering, the bravery, my god..I found myself quietly crying at the sheer power of the emotion she conveyed...

I finally understood why Opera has such a significant place in western culture.

I have been moved.. since.. but remain ignorant.

Anyone for the Opera.?

and there was an Aussie woman .. who played the best blues guitar I've heard in a long time. She was the other guest artist.

Apparently she didn't start playing until she was mid-20's. WOW. WOW WOW WOW

I have a short-term memory... turned long-term where I think her name was ? Fiona...?? Noys..???

Amazing. I hope you can find it with your skills, Mothra.
Or at least.. find her.. she's about our age :bgrin long silky gray blond hair, and plays the guitar like a demon. MAG. :bgrin

I'll have a look Pink. You've given me some leads to chase and i'm still a-ways from bed tonight, alas.
