Ha!

Andrew Stafford More

A friend of mine's eight-year old is setting up a time-lapse camera to catch Santa tonight. He's going to be one pissed off kid tomorrow.

Both jellies set properly, the “marbled” blueberry, orange and blancmange one. The pineapple + layer of orange jelly was made day before yesterday and is set. The chilled soup is ready—need to buy some plastic bowls.

Tomorrow will be at the beach with my neighbors for a BBQ.

I snuck off to the bedroom. Beds are the best place to wrap pressies.

He falls for it every year. Hence the determination to catch me out and my descent into mendacity.

I was raised Catholic. I well tooled when it comes to messing with kids' heads. I've ultimately silenced him before bed by telling him that he's making me feel guilty. Told him i'm so very sorry but he said he wanted computer games and i thought i was doing the right thing.

If he truly buys anything, the giggles coming from the lounge room will tip him off, probably. :bgrin

He's spent the last two days trying to catch me out. I've been merciless in my evasion. I actually heard him muttering something about depression as he walked down the hall.

I'm starting to feel really mean but he is making me twist the knife. It's not my fault. Really it's not.

waiting for wifey to go to bed so I can wrap her presents from the kids ... meanwhile she's waiting for me to go to bed so she can wrap mine :? :? :?

Dog was happy this evening: instead of 100g of chicken necks she got 200g of chicken mince with an egg beaten through it, more than 2 days normal rations. :jump

Hope the kids like the jellies tomorrow: all real fruit, tiny bit sugar, bit of spice (cinnamon and cardamom.) No artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.

Once my joints stop complaining—some adult jellies, including a few with booze in them.

Yes....and this thing is engraved with that 1907 year mark. Like I said....his gain, and I will explain its significance to him. Could even embellish with tales of enemy blokes being personally skewered with the thing by Great Grandpa in the jungles of WW2 Bougainville!

Nah....he'll be okay. His Sister could be in strife!

(Not at all. Unlike his Grand Father, DD Jnr Burger has his head screwed on right.)

one of the best things about being a dad of young kids is being able to play with all those toys that were for so long no longer 'appropriate' to play with. I always make sure that when I buy my kids outdoor equipment like scooters etc, they're all 100 kg rating.

....and then you get to do it all again with Grandkids....except then.......you can be very irresponsible about it!

For example...eldest Grandson is 13 and is getting a thing about knives.....Bowie type stuff. So......Donnie Darko (ask Monk...DD is my Son) has approved my giving him a proper 'pro throw' balanced knife. What DD does not know..... :bgrin ...... is that I'm adding my Old Man's .303 WW2 bayonet!! (I did clean all the blood off, of course..........I'm considerate with things like that. :giggle )

thereihn lies your mistake.

I don't build them for my kids .... are you mad? it keeps them occupied for hours. That's hours of peace and quiet for me. Why would i deny myself that?

Of course not!

But, this particular Grandkid hates building them, just loves playing with them. It's a win/win. I enjoy doing the build, but it does shit me when I stuff up, and that is often, and so I have to pull it apart, and re-build.
