Sounds like it. You could always check out her wins on YouTube.
Seems WA is an English enclave... too many Poms there mate. !

But hey..? I hear the Queen wants Winx to go to England.

And DOGS..?? ….. some of the very best people I've known.

I don't like horse racing, and I don't think "the cups are it".

I've never heard of Winx before, and I really couldn't care less about him/her.

I'm just saying that here in WA, it's really only the horses who win the Melbourne or Perth cups that we hear much about.

Same with that rugby player who said gays should burn in hell - never heard of him (can't remember his name).

Rugby isn't really a thing in WA.

All people talk about here is the West Coast Eagles and the Fremantle Dockers.

Meh, it's all boring crap.

so I agree with one of the comments made in that LINK. It is irrelevant and a useless exercise to attempt to compare horse, like that.

WINX was never given the chance to prove how truly great she is. Her owners wanted to protect her.

As the jock Bowman said, we'll never know how good she really is. ...she's off to the broodbarn. :sad

Well, Phar Lap ran bigger distances, under higher weights, than is normal today.
And obviously. stakes money has just gone on increasing..

perhaps I'll check your link.. but

I'LL NEVER SEE A GREATER HORSE in my lifetime.

pinkeye wrote:She is THE WORLDS BEST EVER RACEHORSE.

that's rather subjective

The argument is that she only ever raced at 7 to 10 furloughs, she never ran longer distances. She also never raced overseas.

The horses considered the best did both and won.

https://www.quora.com/Whos-the-better-race-horse-Phar-Lap-or-Winx

further down the page is a list of the 30 'best ever race horses' from around the world. Winx is on the list, but at number 19.

You westies are deprived ....

How many Melbourne Cups did it win?

none. She never raced in Melbourne Cup. It wasn't her distance

Winx has had more group one wins than any other horse .... including Phar Lap

Ah! That's why we've never heard of her then.

In the west, we only hear about horses who win the Melbourne, or Perth, Cup.

I've heard of Phar Lap :bgrin

I'll admit to shedding a tear or two yesterday.

Will miss her.

I guess that means this topic will now languish.

If in a few yrs, we see her again, or her babies, I'll repost.

:sad

cheers

Racing IS an industry.

But you would think the owners could collect the prize money on a few more races—even a Melbourne Cup!

Re: Winx the Magnificent

Post by johnsmith » 14 Apr 2019, 11:46

they'll make a movie about Winx one day :thumb

Re: Winx the Magnificent

Post by pinkeye » 14 Apr 2019, 03:45

That was her style...

beat them all she did..... and could easily continue

IMHO she could win another few million racing for another year or two, at least.
Guess it is just too hard for the owners to deal with the community, and the expectations... .... :sad

They took her out at her peak. :sad :sad

I am sad to think now the owners think she's only good to breed and produce foals. :sad
As if she won't miss racing... she won't have her buds around... she'll just be set to be serviced by the chosen stallions,.. to produce more potential Winx's.. :sad :sad :sad :sad :sad :sad :sad :sad :sad :sad :sad :sad :sad :sad :sad

Won it in real style

Re: Winx the Magnificent

SIGH
:wub

She won … her final race today.
Very engaging indeed.
Put the only bet I have ever had on her today to WIN. $10. It won't be cashed. Just thought I ought to, as I have watched her for so long now. :rose

Winx had a worthy adversary in the Japanese horse, Kluger . They were matching strides mid-field, during the middle of the race, and then Bowman took her out wide while Kluger stuck to the rail. Fighting out in the final few hundred metres, you could see her supremacy, and you could see Kluger's jockey looking across at her, as the mighty mare went on to take a clear lead. Like he was feasting his eyes on a sight none of us will see again.

And indeed, unless she is barren, we'll never see her race again. :sad

She had the final word with Bowman, knocking him in the face hard and splitting his lip. He'll never get near her again, I think, and she took the opportunity to let him know she was happy to see the end of him, at least. :bgrin

Fucked him off.! :bgrin :yahoo
A goodbye to you prick.

So.. Saturday. :sad :bgrin But ALSO, really happy.

Lots of people have been involved with this horse... WINX.

millions of people

She HAS been a latter day PHAR LAP.
WE LOVE HER. :wub

On Saturday she will run in The Queen Elizabeth Stakes, 2000m, Group 1.

I might put a small bet on her to win, of course. :bgrin
And I won't cash it in...
And honestly, it will be the first, and only bet I have made on WINX, over all the years I have been bedazzled by her.
Don't ever let people tell you horses are stupid animals.

Just watching her is enough for me. All credit to her team...

We saw Winx again this morning, and didn't she just look MAGNIFICENT..!! :wub :wub :wub :wub :wub :wub

She had a gallop, all on her own, and ran like the unbeatable beauty she is.

There was a race today, for the top sprinters , and it was dominated by Santa Ana Lane who won comfortably from horses like Trapeze Artist ( off to STUD for him) and Redzel.

The thing is, to all those Winx detractors out there that I've heard are trolling big time on social media, she ran faster on her Gallop past the Stands than Santa Ana Lane put in to win that Race. Fantastic. :rose :smitten

Her last race next Saturday, and the story will continue.
