Don't forget.. tomorrow arvo.... :thumb

AH HBS Guy, a dream only. I hope really hope everything goes well for her tomorrow.

She is already steeped in glory beyond any other horse in history.

The owners should start training her for the Melbourne Cup. Then she can retire in a blaze of glory!

Winx races again on Saturday,23rd, likely for the second last time.

Going for 32 wins straight.

I doubt there will ever be such a horse again, in my lifetime. You can bet I'll be watching.

Re: Winx the Magnificent

Post by pinkeye » 04 Mar 2019, 01:17

She's likely to race in 3 weeks .,, unmm :bgrin but Mr Waller is playing his card close to his chest, and says, quite rightly, that the decision for Winx in the future is up to the owners.

Debbie> Michael? as the reps visible on camera, you are having to face some quite difficult questions.....

I think she should race at least one more year. I think she should win her 5TH COX PLATE, IN A ROW... NO SWEAT, or only a little. :bgrin

But only if you give her the chance...……………

As an 8 yr old MARE, tough as TEAK, so, IF HER legs and FEET are good, she could win the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups next year. 2020.

She can do anything, if she is SOUND.

Don't, please , don't send her to the broodbarn if she is fit, and WILLING to race.

Please :stop

Re: Winx the Magnificent

Post by pinkeye » 02 Mar 2019, 23:24

She broke the race record in the race she has now won 4 times.... four years in a row.

So that tells us .. :wub
she is getting BETTER.

She loves to run
AND WIN. SHE wants to win. She knows where the winning post is. Never ever will we see her like in our lifetimes....

Let her run Debbie, Michael, .. it's what she's bred to do.!

Re: Winx the Magnificent

Post by pinkeye » 02 Mar 2019, 23:21

So :yahoo :bgrin :bgrin you can't have missed the news, …

She did it easy, really, but boy it was a good race to watch. Never a doubt. :clap

Re: Winx the Magnificent

Post by pinkeye » 01 Mar 2019, 23:38

sad eh?
If she is fit she can race for at least another COX PLATE, but I think the owners have been sledged for still racing her. Ignorant IMHO. If she wants to race, let her race. :yahoo

As a BROODMARE, her value will always be less than her ability. You just cannot know what will throw, and she is so dominant, it seems a shame to retire her prematurely.

That my view anyway.

WHEN she wins, she will break a number of records. I won't bore you with them, but she is looking absolutely stunning. Perhaps even better than her last win.... She really is JUST IN HER PRIME. !!!

Born to RUN faster and better than any other. :wub :wub :wub

I wish the owners would let HER decide. It seems they've been copping flak on line. Trolls are everywhere....

Having read her biography, now considerably out of date, she has suffered some health issues.. mainly hoof abscesses. And a bit of bone off the knee..?? anyway, most horses suffer a lot more harm than that, just being in the paddock. Horses tend to injure themselves it seems. I know my neighbours (former) had two horses die on them, for no apparent reason. Umm

No.. she is so well-loved and cared-for, she could race on for considerably longer... PROVIDING she is sound, and WANTS to.

Just watch her win on Saturday, and you'll know what I say is true. :rose :smitten

If she doesn't?? she didn't want to. But that is inconcievable.

I'm not sure if i heard correctly but apparently her owners have decided that she'll run 3 more races then that's it for her.

well That matters not.. she beat them... clean pair of heels. A race record..!!
:thumb :smitten :rose

The thing is many of those horses used to be trained by Darren Weir. 'Weiry' as he was called.

All his horses are now trained by others, and that would be down to the owners decision as to where to place those horses. As Chris Waller is without a doubt the best big stable trainer in the Country, or possibly the world, he would have had his pick.

Guess you missed the news...Darren Weir was taken out of the racing game....( he was second to Waller on stats ) he was found to …well umm he is not to be mentioned.. :OMG .. and, whats more... he made no attempt to defend himself.

But back to WINX.

So magnificent. She was there for business. She took up her usual stance down on the back, stock still, staking it all out again, as HER'S . I've seen her do it so many times... Queen of ALL before her.

Then she moved in to the stalls. Horse and rider were one. Never a doubt. :yahoo

Second place getter, for probably the 3rd time to WINX?. HAPPY CLAPPER has won +8,000,000.. in stakes money, and so if WINX hadn't been around ..??

She is in fine form, running a Race Record. !!
Pundits are saying this is her last campaign, .. as a 7 yr old mare she'll be off to the broodbarns... :mad BULLSHIT.!!

That'd be a crime. As long as she wants to run, they should race her. She is just peaking... a seven year old mare, treasured as she is, and so incredibly well-handled, could race on. As long is she is sound, it should be her choice.

You see,,, horses are quite capable of telling us what they think.
:bgrin :bgrin :bgrin

Chatacqua .. the mighty grey speed machine showed us that last year.

:bgrin The leading sprinter... he decided he didn't want to race any more. Now, he'd always been headstrong.. on and off on and off... a bit of a handful. He's also won more than $8,000,000.... a real champion...

so .. and you have to look this footage up on Youtube.. it is hilarious.... :bgrin :bgrin :bgrin
Poor jockey's, flapping their arms and legs, and going NOWHERE. :rofl :rofl

when the gates opened he just stood there. Moved out a bit .. nah .. not interested. Because he was so good .. they kept trying to get him to run. The stewards allowed and he just said.. up yours.

I think on the 3rd attempt he stood there for a while, and must have thought oh WTF?? and decided to join in.. He came so close,, maybe a NOSE, to winning. :bgrin :bgrin

The last chance they gave him .. it was like... he stood there, looked around, ignoring all those other horses racing off and might as well have crossed one leg over the other and leaned against the wall. Poor jockey... it is hilarious... :bgrin

He is retired.. :bgrin :roll

WINX should continue racing as long as she wants to. :thumb

She's scared off all the competition. Apart from two other horses, all the other horses were entered by winx's trainer. 7 of them. Just to make up the numbers.

The organisers didn't want a race with only 3 horses :grn

Winx is racing again first up on Saturday.. The Apollo Stakes. :thumb

I'll have to check out the field... BUT??
nothing will beat WINX. :bgrin

Re: Winx the Magnificent

so the euphoria has faded, but I could watch that race again and again.

In fact all her 29 winning streak races are worth watching, all in a row, because she is amazing. Astonishing, magnificent, brilliant, all those words apply to Winx.

She could win next year's Caulfield Cup easy peasy. An extra 360 metres would mean nothing to her.
She is now in her prime, strong, and fit.
People said she could have gone around again, she pulled up so well.
Well lots of commentators said that... her team were more circumspect.
But you know ? she could... which would mean she could also win a Melbourne Cup. :bgrin :wub

Of course, the beaten brigade will make it harder to attract opponents in future.

The new crop of youngsters will try to take her on.
Or the next attempt by internationals.

Bring'm on. :rose

The owner's have the say, but there really is no point in retiring her at this stage.
They'll NOT take her overseas either. If any other's want to come take her on, they're welcome.

:bgrin :beer :wub :wub

I agree with that. They come here. She has SFA to prove.

she barely got puffed.

So true. She trotted back to the crowd like one of those show ring ponies. Totally relaxed, and sort of......*What's the fuss about. That was just a piss easy race.....no big deal*

I hope they don't retire her.

Re: Winx the Magnificent

YES.,.!!! :bgrin :bgrin :bgrin :bgrin

I never doubted her, and she surely showed her magnificence. :clap :wub

Bowman rode her a treat.. and barely moved. :bgrin

Loved the Pommie git getting down and kissing the feet of one of the owners. He'd put shit on Winx and Deb challenged him. I didn't see THAT, but I did see the git get down on his knees, and then kiss her feet, because Winx won. Great stuff.!! :thumb

Seriously people... we'll never see another horse ike Winx in our lifetime. 29 wins straight. 4 Cox Plates, in a row....
an outstanding win today, and she barely got puffed.

I do wish that they'd race her over longer distances. SIGH.
She could win the Melbourne Cup. :smitten

Yes today at 4.00 pm Winx will win her 4th Cox Plate. Unprecedented.
Bowman has to show us he has the class to match the horse he rides to victory.
