Yep. You got it .Puggles. ! :)

Echidna and Platypus are the only known monotremes in the world.
They are absolutely amazing.

Recommend you watch Australia Remastered 6.00 pm Sundays on ABC.

Ist up was this evening... they have found all sorts of old footage.. of Australian animals. AMAZING. It was a really worthwhile watch.

Yeh, well I was pretty sad when my Dad told me: I can only imagine he was a little bit sadder...

oh how nice.
You have family.

For my part.. I only have my father's line to follow.. my big sister did that... English to the core.. traced back to a Sir in the days of Charles the 3rd.
All those relo's, whom I've never met, live in the UK.

MY mother's line... NO CAN DO. .... Born on London.. NOT in a hospital....

Can go back to London, and a master Confectioner, on the males side... but France comes into that , as a wife, to a great grandfather, and my grandmother, on the matriarchal line was identifiable.. but there is NO WAY to discover who my grandfather was, on my mother's side. My grandmother had a baby out-of-wedlock... my mother.

Father Unknown.

Nobody knows.

It is frustrating. And you feel adrift.

I'm sorry for you, Pink. There is a great shroud of secrecy around my mother's side. Some extremely suspicions circumstances. It unsettles you, to be true.

Imagine now how the Stolen Generations feel. Especially knowing the depth of meaning kinship means in that culture.

I saw a brilliant theatre piece performed by Deborah Mailman years ago that walked us through what kinship means to our Indigenous using piles of sand. It was incredibly powerful. Never been able to find it since. I'd donate a kidney to someone who could find it for me.

baby echidnas are called puggles. I didn't know platypuses were too.
We saw an echidna in the, um, yarra valley last Christmas time... Just on a bushwalk on a walking trail. There was about seven of us and it really didn't care... Pretty cool: yes, we got some photos.
