that was the easy bit.

Besides, Even if I'm off by a few hundred thousdand years it's not like you or I will ever know it:smirk
thats the joy of not knowing could be a million years or it could be next week......either one is about equal in the probability ... ;)

Except that I can absolutely guarantee man won't be travelling to another planet next week:pokes tongue
yup just like you can guarantee it wont take 1 million years either...I'd say Musk will do it before he dies....The joy of discovery is even today someone might of figured out how to cross the stars....Only takes one revelation and a bit of serendipity and we are on our way...

depends on what you mean by 'others' ... I wouldn't be surprised to find out there is some other form of life somewhere out there, but I don't believe that if it were advanced enough to fly light years to earth, it would need to hide. It's already far more advanced than we will be in the next million years.
Life isn't restricted to human form. Nor is intelligent life.. see our own other sentient beings , especially those living in our oceans,or deep in our forests.
Who knows what life exists... and to claim we are special somehow, is just ridiculous.. it it the problem the human race has always had.. our apparently inherited belief that we are the epitome of life in the Universe. What unsubstantiated rubbish... clearly we aren't. Even on our own planet.

Some of us are so backward in our ideas on this I must consider that this hubris has done irreparable harm to our species... we even turn on the weaker members of our own species.. we are not the greatest thing in the Universe... sorry to tell you that JS.

I understand you think humans are the only intelligent life in the Universe.

You are entitled to your opinion.

saw some footage on the teev this arvo... from astronauts filming the aurora borealis from space.

Seems five mysterious lights were filmed rising up from the north into low space... I wonder if that'll show up again on News. There were four in a row and a further one central and behind the others. Well, that is all I managed to see, before they changed stories.. but the footage has been referred to the 'appropriate authorities' , who ever they are.
An explanation perhaps..?

Years ago, when I lived at our last place, with mountain views, my kids were bubs then and as a mum having to get up in the night a few times to go into kitchen and warm their milk bottle.... so one night.... clear night too.... I look out my kitchen widow with a big outdoor view, and saw a bright object wizzing around, fast and able to turn right angles at a speed I never seen anything do before.
Then helicopters came from nowhere with big spot lights.... trying to hone in on this cheeky bright object.... where did them helicopters come from ? I saw very bright lights in a row of 4....on up top in the mountain in the distance.... like some hidden base.

I lived at this last place for 8 years, and saw it happen another time, earlier in the night... I called the husband to come look... so both of us in awe at this display of a fast quiet moving lit up object.... and then those mountain lights came on and there were then helicopters again chasing it... but this bright object zigged and zagged effortlessly and then, shot straight up in the sky like lightening speed and disappeared.
We watched a while until those helicopters retrieved... went towards the mountainous lights, then it was all quiet and those lights turned off.
Again it was a clear night.
Being in the 1990’s our camera was just a cheap film camera, no good trying to take night shots.
We live in a dip in road last 27 years so see nothing from there.
I wondered about them strange lights within the mountain range and helicopters appearing from that direction. What was that all about?

“We live in a dip in road” sounds like the Four Yorkshiremen sketch by Monty Python.

I suspect it was a military exercise. The light may have been a light.

Another strange oddity.... sometimes, in the dead of the night, I see the brightest light beaming through the bedroom curtain... like as if a vehicle was facing the window with high beam lights on... but it’s impossible as there’s a lake there, no road... no car can face the window like that.
I have roller shutters now so everything is blocked out.
Where we live here in the ranges, all trees, mountains, and large water dams around...
Maybe these spacecrafts like the desolation?
More private space for them to flirt around or hover in?
What do we really know?
This earth is billions years old.
All those early cave drawings or around the pyramids depicting space like persons?

I was reading about his Christopher Columbus wrote in his journal of a type of shiny object coming out of the sea near where they were sailing.
Also similar report it happened in front of the QE 2 or some royal ship.
Fascinating stuff. I want total honesty about it all ... not shrouded in mystery.

It was a fast moving saucer type... like on it’s own for a while before helicopters came. Was very cheeky and manouverable.
Even hubby was astounded
We know what we saw was unusual and phenomenal. At first I thought that too a military exercise, but I have been researching... we lived in a path between Warburton ranges and Olinda (Dandenong ranges) with Silvan Dam in between.
There’s been a few sightings and say this is a very common area for UFOs.
My friend lived with mountain views too and during daylight, she saw a silver shiny craft cascading and twirling and letting out something like a ribbon effect.
Heard of another incident where another local driving home at night with his wife and kids, saw a space craft hovering over a dam... making the water misty/steamy looking... as if it was dumping something from its craft?

The outer parts of the Universe are very old, too old to support life.

Carbon is the element life is based on: four valent hence methane CH4. It can form chains such as those found in petroleum products and rings: simple rings of atoms with one carbon atom sharing a bond with each of the the two carbon atoms next to it allowing other atoms to attach to the ring, two single valent bonds like the hydroxyl group (OH) or an oxygen using two valences. It also forms more complex rings where both single and double bonds form the ring of carbon atoms.

Hence organic chemistry is the study of molecules containing carbon atoms.

A planet around a too-bright sun or in an orbit too close to a sun like ours—carbon bonds will be broken.

The next item in the Periodic Table directly below carbon is silicon—also with four valences. Nothing to do with silicon has happened here.

Who knows where they originate from?
maybe the moon? I heard it was ringing like a empty steel drum sound when landed on.
That the moon was a spacecraft that got caught in earths gravitational atmosphere?
Just putting it out there for discussion.

Think about it like this, one hundred and fifty years ago, no cars, planes, tvs, radio, electricity etc
Now compare us 150 years later.... wow huh ?
I still can’t get over how a USB stick with no moving parts, can hold thousands of songs, photos, and movies.
It still astounds me!
