U.S. Elections

Seth, you are making a false assumption. Or, an argument out of ignorance. You are assuming that because Trump's tax records are in the hands of the IRS and the tax authorities, that if there were evidence of any improprieties, that these bodies would indict and prosecute. But even if there were overwhelming evidence of wrongdoings, it doesn't mean that they would indict and prosecute. Because, Trump is the sitting President of the US. Although there is NOTHING in the Constitution that prevents any sitting President from being indicted and prosecuted by Federal and State courts, it is still an unwritten rule to wait until the end of his term. And, no one wants to be the first to rock that boat.

Remember, Trump has a history of failed business ventures, using the bankruptcy rules to his advantage, defaulting on his loans, screwing his contractors and workers(not paying them), and hiring shading lawyers and advisors(now convicts) to do his dirty work. He is someone who routinely engages in sham financial schemes, and commits fraud(property estimates) to avoid paying millions in taxes. So, we are NOT just talking about John Q. honest Citizen here. We are talking about someone, who IS truly the biggest loser. If anyone's tax records should be put under public scrutiny, then this lying, narcissistic sociopathic POTUS would certainly be my first choice.

You are simply making excuses for him, and even making this a partisan issue(wow). The obvious question is, if he has nothing to hide, then why all the delays, excuses, and the spreading of blame? Is he hiding something? Like the truth? Why do you think that Presidential candidates are asked to submit their tax refunds? It is certainly NOT a legal requirement(only 7 out of 34 past presidents and vice-presidents have declined to file personal tax refunds). However it IS a legal requirement, that these candidates file a "Personal Financial disclosure". Also, the IRS cannot publicly disclose anyone's tax refunds. Only the individual taxpayer can do that(unless under court orders).

Really, that is fallacious. Obama's business practices were never questionable, like Trump's. Obama DID released 11 years of Tax Refunds already. If he hadn't is only speculative and irrelevant. Even Nixon disclosed his tax returns. Did you know that Trump paid zero income taxes 10 out of the 15 years before 2017. I guess that this means, that he must be a real smart businessman, right?

Mitt Romney was another crook who refused, initially, to release his tax refunds. But, eventually released one year. Claiming that it was an attack on the rich. He even had the nerve to request that Obama release at least 10 years of his. I personally believe that if he was not a Mormon, he would have been elected.

I also personally believe that the public should know everything about the person they are going to vote to represent their nation. Including any history of criminality, or sainthood. Judging from Trump's history of lies and criminalities, he should be that last person on the planet that anyone should trust. And, anyone OUTSIDE of the US already knows this.

It seems ironic that someone who claims that Obama needs to prove his American citizenship(completely vetted at the highest level), would then refuse to produce tax records and other documents, that would prove how rich he is, how much he gives to charities, how smart he is, what an art of the deal maker he is, and what a great businessman he is. All of the things that he constantly brags about. Odd!!!

Trump has proven three things.

That candidates do NOT need to have any political, military, elected, or business experience(honest), to become the POTUS.

That candidates can be a racist, a separatist, a misogynist, a narcissist, a sociopath, a chronic liar, a xenophobe, an idiot, or a person with zero true social empathy, and still become the POTUS.

That the strength of the Constitution can withstand attacks, even from this Authoritarian ruler for 4 years.

Just my 2 cents worth.
Trump has been filing tax returns for decades. Do you really think that all of a sudden there is something criminal about them? Decades of tax filings, Shell.

I realize that Obama's income was never in question. But the hypothetical I posed is not to impune Obama, but to point out that this effort to get Trump's tax information is purely political. Democratic Hawaii would never have tried to get Obama's tax records if he wished to keep them private. But New York is run by Democrats and Trump is a Republican.

The effort to get his tax records made public is political. It is an effort to overrule his right to privacy for purely partisan political reasons, and that is not legitimate.

Seth, this is NOT about how many times Trump has filed his income taxes. This is about opening his tax returns for public scrutiny. As I have already stated, he is not legally bound to following any presidential tradition. But it is Trump that brags about the art of the deal. It is Trump that brags about how smart he is. It is Trump that brags about his altruism, and his donations to charities. It is Trump that brags about how rich he is. It is Trump that brags about what a great businessman he is. His bragging, and eccentricity, is what convinced people to elect him as President. And, history certainly doesn't support any of his claims. Therefore, shouldn't the public see the evidence for themselves, instead of accepting the word of a man who has reached 20,000 documented false and misleading statements?

Democratic Hawaii would never have tried to get Obama's tax records if he wished to keep them private. But New York is run by Democrats and Trump is a Republican.
Really? It is all academic Seth. Obama voluntarily submitted his returns, without being asked. To say that Democrats would never have tried to get his records is irrelevant, and a logical fallacy(spin). In fact it says more about Obama, than it says about the Democratic Party. Clearly Trump has a lot to hide from the public. Look at the website again. Trump is a crook, a liar, a sociopath, and a thief, regardless of what party you belong to.

he effort to get his tax records made public is political. It is an effort to overrule his right to privacy for purely partisan political reasons, and that is not legitimate.
No one is overruling Trumps right to privacy. Especially as a sitting President. But once he is finally out, there will be a list of jurisdictions that will be lining up to subpoena his taxes returns, as part of their civil and criminal investigations.

People are not made up of only 1 political ideology. People have overlapping views on just about everything. People may believe strongly in a woman's right to choose, but also in the rights of the unborn child. People might believe in equal rights for all, but condemn affirmative action. People are NOT politically one dimensional. There are no true Democrats, or true Republicans IMHO.

Wow this was a year ago.....Yesterday USA had it's highest new infections for a day...... He was right.....
The alleged child rapist continues to lie to the American people every day about Covid.

He says things are getting better, and that a vaccine is just weeks away.

But, as you say, they've just had their worst day yet - 77,000 new cases.

A quarter of a million Americans are dead, and he still refuses to take action.

If he gets a second term, millions of Americans will die thanks to his apathy, incompetence, and sheer stupidity.

Jesus!

But don't worry, it'll go away in April.

And those numbers are fake anyway.

America only has 15 cases, and that will soon be zero.

FFS :stoopid

To be serious, for just one minute, Seth says that the single greatest thing about Trump is that he hasn't started a war.

Well, who needs a war when 1,000 Americans are dying unnecessarily every day due to his incompetence?

Trump's failure to address the pandemic has killed more Americans than Vietnam and WWII, but Seth says that's okay because he hasn't started any wars.

Apparently a war on your own citizens doesn't count.

Vladimir Putin has made it clear that he’s happy with Donald Trump’s coziness with Russia, but the Kremlin today contradicted Trump and said that he doesn’t believe Joe Biden’s ties with Ukraine are criminal.

Trump used Thursday’s debate with Biden as an opportunity to accuse Biden’s son of having unethical ties to Ukraine, accusations that have not been verified and that Biden has denied.

The US’s top infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci told the BBC that he expected news on whether a vaccine is safe and effective by December, but noted that a wide rollout was unlikely “until the second or third quarter of [next] year”. He also acknowledged that Donald Trump’s public statements on several key issues had not “followed the science”.

Trump uses the line "A vaccine is just weeks away".

It's the coward's way out.

"Weeks away" could mean anything.

Five years is 60 weeks.

He's so full of shit.

No, it's not about Obama; it's about the hypocrisy of it all.

The revelations that are coming out about Joe Biden in the past few days are a good example. Do you think the Democrats want to investigate that? Do you think they want to investigate whether Joe used the vice presidency to enrich his son who, in turn, paid Joe some of the money? Hmm?

Let's demand that Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Shumer and Adam Shiff investigate Biden's corruption and sell-out to China. And let's hold our breath until they do it. Whadya say, Shell? You in?

Or do you concede to the fact of the hypocrisy?

You think so? Trump was 70 years old when he was elected. He has been in business since he was 25 years old. Let's see .... that's 45 years. 45 years, Shell. And you think jurisdictions will be lining up to go after him now? Where were they for the past 45 years?

4:45 am ... That's about the time I wake up to get ready for work.

I actually think Trump should have shown his tax returns, but I defend his right not to.

And I recognize what's going on here.

Remember, "Sleep is good for you."

what for? What is the crime exactly? Even if he helped his son get a job in another country .... so what? It's what any parent would do. Trumps whole family works in the white house and I don't see you calling republicans out to investigate that..
