U.S. Elections

Both my son and I have always hated Trump's remarks about John McCain's service, that is, getting captured after being shot down by the North Vietnamese.

That said, his sacrifice during the Viet Nam War was the only thing I respected about the man. Unlike many veterans of war, as a politician, he was a warmonger. As a senator, he became a part of the permanent Washington establishment. Other than his positions on war, he was always hard to pin down on the issues and always looked for sort of soft, qualified positions on everything. He specifically, and some others like him, were the people I thought of when I registered as an Independent. Frankly, as a politician, I couldn't stand him.

Jennifer Griffin is a good person and a good reporter. She is very, very supportive of our military and the men and women who have fought in our various wars. But just to clarify, Jennifer Griffin did not confirm that Trump said the things he's accused of saying. What she did was confirm that other people said those things about Trump. I believe her, but I don't necessarily believe the people who were speaking to her.

It is suspicious to me that these alleged remarks by Trump are being disclosed now, 2 months before the election, rather than closer to the time they were allegedly said. Politics is a dirty, dirty business with no moral code against lying about one's opponent. And Trump has made plenty of enemies in Washington. Clearly, some people are acting on their grudges against the man, they saved their accusations until the election, and so their accusations are suspect.

The accusations against Joe Biden that I posted on this thread are suspect for the same reason.

John Bolton, another warmonger who I have no respect for, can't stand Trump, but in his tell-all book, he talks about the reasons why Trump didn't visit the cemeteries, citing the weather and other factors. I quoted him earlier in this thread.

Anyways, whatever ... The election is just a boring sideshow to me, and I can't wait to get past it and move on. The Biden/Harris administration will give us plenty to talk about in the future.

the same war monger who voted against authorizating the Gulf War in 1991, and who later said of the second Iraq war that it and his vote to support it, were a mistake?
John McCain voted in favor of the Gulf War in 1991.

Veterans of the Vietnam conflict found themselves on both sides of the issue. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), a former Navy pilot who spent five years in a Hanoi POW camp, voted with Bush;

It was just like McCain - voting in favor of a war and then calling it a mistake when the going got politically tough. Hillary Clinton did exactly the same thing. But their track record was supporting every war and wanting an extremely militarily aggressive foreign policy.

Sorry, my mistake ... I'm getting confused .. I thought we were talking about Biden.

Apart from another example of Trump disrespecting servicemen, McCain isn't relevant.
No problem. Honestly, you guys know a lot more about U.S. politics than I know about Australian politics.

Coronavirus cases are rising in 22 of the 50 US states, a Reuters analysis has found. Three weeks ago, cases were only rising in three states - Hawaii, Illinois and South Dakota.

If Trump is Truly a Wartime President becouse of C-19 like he claims, what does this say about the way he is handling this particular war (also the only real or imaginary war he has had to deal with as a president)

I have to take us back to Trump being quoted as calling Armed Services people.................. losers and suckers.

I have NO doubt this is truth. It is what he has displayed throughout his tenure, this sort of contempt. He has never thought of anyone but himself.

Seth...? doesn't this disturb you? You think it's a lie.? If he had ANY respect for the serving people, he would have joined up, instead of dodging every time.
SORRY.... I know you have personal issues in this election.... you do NOT support TRUMP, BUT you'd prefer him over the other.?
So you'll vote TRUMP.

I don’t know what to believe. “Anonymous sources” accusing him of something he said 2 years ago. And it’s disclosed 2 months before the election. It’s the same thing Biden’s accusers did. At least one of them wasn’t anonymous, right?

Interestingly the others in the plane at the time haven't come and rushed to give statements that Trump didn't say these things... I wonder why not ????
If your president was falsely accused of something wouldn't you rush to the press to put the story right....

Trump Today

Donald Trump, accused by Joe Biden of putting lives at risk in his handling of the coronavirus, has called his Democratic rival “stupid” and demanded an apology for what Trump called anti-vaccine rhetoric.

Trailing in national opinion polls as the US death toll from the virus approaches 190,000, Trump unleashed a broad attack against both the former vice president, his opponent in the 3 November election, and Biden’s running mate, US senator Kamala Harris.

Trump has said that a vaccine against the virus would be ready in record time, perhaps before the election, raising questions about whether political pressure might result in the deployment of a vaccine before it is safe.

Harris had said she would not trust Trump with a vaccine before the election and Biden, critical of Trump’s response to the virus, has urged Americans to heed the scientists. Critics accuse Trump of undermining scientists during the pandemic.

Speaking in front of the White House at a US Labor Day news conference, Trump said:

Biden and his very liberal running mate, the most liberal person in Congress by the way - is not a competent person in my opinion, would destroy this country and would destroy this economy - should immediately apologise for the reckless anti-vaccine rhetoric that they are talking right now.
It undermines science.
The president called Biden “stupid.”

In rambling remarks the president also hailed the US labour market’s recovery from the pandemic-fuelled recession and suggested Biden would undo that progress.

Trump has sought to paint himself as best-placed to revive the economy, despite criticism that his initial dismissal of the virus threat led to both a health crisis as well as a recession.

I guess the idiot needs to get in his 6 lies a day so he dosn't disappoint us.... Unbelievable......
