Seriously...?
The Fed's are absolutely responsible. Theirs was the Overview, theirs the funding and that is where the buck stops.
Ever heard of all care and no responsibility.. something chefs might post on their steak board of degrees of cooking for your steak..?

It is so gross.. I object to this whole approach.

Did you hear The Prime Minister Scott Morrison on the NEWS tonight.?

I agree with Albanese.. what does it take for an incompetent leech on our system to be sacked.?

A bit of political backbone coupled with a comprehensive Action Plan to save those old people, especially in Victoria.

Said it before and no doubt will say it again... Victorian Homes for the Aged .. were well documented a decade before Covid-19 arrived, of being places in which the most awful abuse and neglect occurred. I saw it for MYSELF. :(:(

The Homes of Death for Profit Plan doesn't work...LIBS.!
Seriously skewed thinking.. Care being determined by MASSIVE COMPANY'S profit margins.
YOU are responsible.. always have been and can't wiggle out of it now.
How would any other Government have done better?

EDIT: The reason for my question is because we shouldn't give any of the major parties kudos for anything. They're as bad as each other if you ask me.

How ?
It is a totally irrelevant point in this discussion.

Couldn't be worse than this lot tho.

But I am not talking about what MIGHT have been.
I am talking about WHAT IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW. It isn't political you see , moron. Much more important than partisan politics is the fact that over 100 elderly folk are dying everyday in Victorian Old Homes.

You want to talk about something else.. start your own thread.
Your questions are inappropriate.

Apologies, I meant no disrespect.

I'm simply saying that this is an unprecedented situation we are in, and whilst I sympathize with all those deaths, I also hate it when politicians claim that they could've done better or claimed better foresight.

No one could've predicted Covid-19 in our lifetime, and no country was prepared for it. Victoria is on the verge of a police state (or so I've been told), so measures are being taking.

What I want to see is unity and bipartisanship on solutions to this crisis.

I will say this about the whole thing. I think it's a mistake to believe that any other party would've done a better job than the current Liberal government. Whilst I don't support ScoMo or less the Liberals, I don't believe Labor would've done a better job. They would all be taking advice from the same people and would've implemented similar measures.
Therefore?

See there lies the problem... to say as many have .......... No one could've predicted Covid-19 in our lifetime, and no country was prepared for it. .... is JUST NOT TRUE. Governments have been told of this outlook for decades, and they chose to ignore it.

WE WERE TOLD this would happen.. but everybody lives in the Neverneverland .. not in my lifetime.

RIDICULOUS CLAIM there Auggie. It has been predicted for decades.

whilst I'd like to see him gone, I'd imagine he's been fed a lot of information lately and its easy to miss something .. afterall, he's career politician and not a front line worker. It's the public servants who are the ones coming up with and trying to put into place the policies ... he's just the figure head and glory taker. Although I do admit that's probably the one bit of information he should know
For once a rare and fair commentary!

I suspect that Minister's time is done. I think I saw Morrison say something about 'at this stage' the bloke is doing a good job, or similar.

Who set's the qualification standard for staffing at these age care centres?

The standards of operations is the State's obligation to meet the regulatory standards set by the Feds...the Labor party is so desperate to deflect the blame of State's failures on petite Issues!

getting desperate there aren't you chucky? Feds are responsible for aged care centres .. it's up to the feds to police them

and yet Albanese is still in office.... couldn't agree with you more Pinky....
So..? Irrelevant AGAIN. what matters is what the people in GOVERNMENT DO ... not what you think the party in opposition DOESN't DO.
Total BS The man MUST BE FIRED.. incompetency and ignorance and total lack of empathy, int THAT PORTFOLIO seems almost designed to save the Feds money. It makes me sick sick sick It makes me SICK.

U R way off beam here . The buck stops at the feds, and the bucks stops at Colbeck and MORRISON. They both should resign in shame for overseeing this whole debacle... they have NO EXCUSES.

The REAL QUESTION is extremely poor staffing models, due to the need FOR PROFIT.
The real cause is on-going reduction of funding by the feds... check it out if you care.. otherwise go on believing that PAP they continuously feed you.

IT IS THE LACK OF FUNDING.... federal government funding GROSSLY REDUCED OVR THE LAST 10-15 YRS...

that IS WHERE IT ALL begins and ends. THEY should have some control don't you think.?

A very informative report on how it all works....

Ahh I admit when I'm wrong I falsely assumed Aged care was like hospitals and under State care...:truce

Having said that ScoMo is accepting responsibility for the 4 bad cases of screw up's in Aged care centers and in general and sorting it out..
Weather or not the aged care minister is sacked is still up for grabs and will be interesting what happens...
Once again Australia has been lucky it's not much worse and hopefully the highlight is on Aged care long enough for some positive changes to happen...

A transcript of question time about the aged care that's interesting...

So that is it..? A white flag..??

Nothing else to say? I imagine this may cause you some need for some news ideas to percolate.

Look at this current govt with new eyes.. and realise..........
