Labor Going backwards on Renewables....

Now I’m very confused. The coming WA Election has Zak and the LNP pushing renewables with the closure of all coal power stations within 4 years and the Labor Party saying its reckless, will push up costs and lead to power blackouts. Weird eh?
@johnsmith @pinkeye @HBS Guy
you guys might be able to explain it to me :)

Four years is kind of a short time to do that?
now you don't want renewables pushed because Labor said it's bad.... got it :)
that reasoning you must be happy with the Lib feds becouse they have the same ideal's of State Labor governments........

No, a complete change in electricity generation takes more than 4 years is all.

Under the energy plan, WA would have a net zero carbon emissions electricity system by 2030, with all state-owned coal-fired power stations to be closed by 2025.

Coal-fired power stations would close within four years and the state would lean heavily on renewables for its energy needs within a decade.
Coal-fired power stations in Muja and Collie would shut within four years

It's 10 years....... In 4 years just the 2 state owned coal plants will be shut.....

Now with this information, why are Labor so opposed to this ?????? the illusion Labor are more green is totaly blown out the water here... Long live Adani......

First Albasneezey gets rid of Butler because he wanted renewables now this......Labor are just as bad if not worse than Lib's on weening us from Fossil Fuels.....

Labors Take on this....

"But in any event, should the policies that they announced ... be implemented, all it would mean is many, many billions of extra debt, huge increase in family power bills, rolling blackouts across the state and huge job losses," he said.

"Everyone should be very fearful about what they have just put forward ... we don't need reckless, inexperienced and dangerous people in charge."

SA has the lowest wholesale power in Australia now.....
Doesn't this sound exactly like the Liberals when SA had the big storm that wiped out power... I guess they think if it worked for the libs why not Labor ?????

I think the WA Libs are a bit desperate. Still think 4 years too ambitious.
FFS it's not 4 years it's 10... 4 years are just the 2 Government owned Power stations...

Well they arnt as despirate as Labor over there trying to scare everyone with the old prices will raise and blackouts with Renewables.......

the libs are just promising stuff they have no intention of delivering and WA labor knows it's just rhetoric .... their timeline is unworkable. The tender process alone will take over a year, then they have to find suitable sites, another year long search at least ... then they need to do all the community consulting etc in whatever region they look to build ... then they have to actually build it, test it, sort out any kinks and get it fully operational all before the govt owned power stations shut down

Doesn't this sound exactly like the Liberals when SA had the big storm that wiped out power.
well, they are still politicians and it is a politicians job to talk down the opponents policies .. as sure as the sun rises this will continue to happen, from all sides.

Rubbish the goal and timelines are fine, they have 10 years it's just Labor showing their true colours with the environment... that is they don't care .....
so your saying Labor only care about votes and not the environment.... got it...

Well Labor and it's supporter just show their true colours, now tearing down Liberal States that are Promoting Renewables...Going on about time lines or it's just politics blah blah... Just admit it Labor is just as bad as the Libs with looking after us and our land.. Time to get off your high green highhorse.
Stop dreaming about how much better it would be with Labor,, because they are proving time and again they don't give a fuck about the environment .....

they don't have ten years. Not when they're shutting down the govt. owned coal generators in 4 years. Something has to take up the slack

Of course during an election it's all about votes. Especially when the promises the other side makes are fairy tales. Next you'll tell me you believed abbotts 'no cuts to the ABC' and 'workchoices is finished' bullshit.

Do you think only 2 coal power plants supply all the power for WA ? I don’t really care about those other things just environmental issues...
labor are going backward on Renewables, that is the issue in this thread......

Can the other plants produce enough power to take up the void left behind by shutting down those two?

In four years time..... yes... maybe read the proposals...... stop being typical labor and just going the opposite of what the libs are trying to do and support what is good for us and the land....
