In the U.S. a fanny is the buttocks, usually a woman's. "Pissed" is being angry.
In Aust, we're multi lingual. 🙂
Most people would understand the American meaning for 'rooting around' and also would use 'pissed' for being angry, although they usually add the word off after it, as in pissed off.🙂

We also say "pissed off". One thing you Australians say that we don't say is to "take the piss" which I think means to complain about something. Right? In the U.S. it just means to urinate.
