Was at a nice Chinese banquet celebrating the end of 62 years of occupation of Mum’s house.

I could provide some interesting tidbits about previous inhabitants in the street that I heard from Mum: e.g. when the Chinese neighbor was about to go into labor with her youngest she asked Mum to come to the hospital with her, hubby having had to leave SA :smirk :smirk :smirk

Thursday I have to move out. Happy days!

An ending to a era and I hope you said goodbye and thank you for the memories whilst going through missing her/grieving process. That house will now be a home to a new generation of family and new memories for them.
Hope all the shifting out and sorting stuff has been an easy transition for you Monk.

Oh no! I hate that! I recall it so saddening when my old business college was knocked down, my hubby’s old tech school knocked down, my old work place (Telecom) next to GPO clock was knocked down, and recently my dad’s house was knocked down for units. All while neighbouring properties remain as is!!
I’m looking at this lovely property I like in Runaway Bay and considering buying maybe, the owners have made the place so lovely and updated and private but an offer has come from developers to knock it down for duplex or something. The owner does not want this and has waited it out instead for someone like us that would keep as is. I’m astounded how many properties a zoned B (I think it is) so developers can do what they want.
One such property I was bidding on up to a point as I couldn’t get more loan above our last offer … I was up against a developer… they won.
If you want to see that property it’s 7 Sophia Court Biggera Waters Qld.
A beautiful solid 70s style spacious home with gorgeous retro pink and green bathrooms.
It had a concrete ramp out into bridge free canal a whisk away from Broadwater.
Dang! It’s going to be pulled the developers say… with getting millions more after whatever multiple buildings they do.

The hospital both my kids were born in was knocked down. I'm saddened every time I drive past the site now, although I understand why they did it. It was beyond repair after years of neglect and cheaper to knock down and build something new. There's an old peoples home going up in it's place so maybe one day, when my boys are old men, they can retire there.

Oh yes!!! My hospital I was born in dismantled too (Queen Victoria in Melbourne)
And also my hubby’s family farm home … taken down for glass houses to be put in place. (with trees lopped down that should’ve been classified by national trust!)
Oh and the school I went to … pulled down … was a 3 story from 1st grade to 8 th grade.
Was in Westgarth.
Geez… my history … pulled
